Is ignorance bliss?

Would it be great to be thick? Thick enough to not be able to comprehend even moderately complicated aspects of life. I see folks who just 'exist' on their job seekers allowance or income support, ambling along from one day to the next, entirely oblivious of most of what happens in the world. Happily secure in the knowledge that, come what may, the state will always be there to help them out. So why worry? Gaza. Recession. Schooling. Blah blah blah. Its all too hard to understand so just ignore it. Why stress? Why worry? If i dont know about it it cant affect or stress me. Etc etc etc. Ignorance is bliss.
