Is Facebook inherently racist?

And as such does is it a microcosm of society in general?

The reason I ask is because I set up a group called "Stupid, white and racist - AND PROUD OF IT!" which was a light hearted dig at the hundreds of groups set up to moan and whinge about Muslims, immigrants, Poles or anything generally not English (and by English, of course I mean white).

There wasn't anything particularly inflammatory about the group, just a little poem and a topic "If you live in fucking England you should learn the fucking language" (before you lambast foreigners for the same thing) - but it has now been shut down because it violates the terms and conditions of Facebook and "attacks an individual or group".

Well, yeah - but the group it is attacking is stupid white racist people, surely a worthy target? It's not as if they've endured years of oppression, is it? And I'm not the only one - other people have reported their groups also being shut down for the same reasons.

However, groups promoting blatant xenophobia, promoting the BNP, promoting racial hatred - are allowed to survive. You can call someone a paki or a nigger or a chink, but if you call them a racist then that's a step too far - what the fuck is that about?

So what do you think? Is Facebook, the internet, and society as a whole inherently racist, and why?
