The Manchester City fans are singing 'Theres only one Neil Young' about a former midfielder of theirs who has ball cancer or something.

I hope Jay doesn't log in tonight and start another Young/Dylan debate

Whatever anyone says about city as a club there fans filled the stadium every single week in the Championship, league one and league 2 before coming all the way back up.

I wonder how full Anfield would be if we got relegated.

No they didn't, but they did have quite consistent attendance.

No they didnt. And anyway, they were in Maine Rd when they were in League 2 and League 1 for some part though, and the capacity in it was significantly lower than Eastlands.

You can only fill whatever stadium you.

I've always been under the impression they always had high attendances even in the lower leagues.

Is that incorrect?

Well you're changing your stance, so I'm not really sure which question you're actually asking.

My stance was that they filled their stadium even after treble relegation, which speaks volumes for their support.

I asked if you knew for fact that was not true.

They didn't fill it, but they did have good attendance (20,000+) in the lower leagues. Your general comment is accurate, but they didn't fill the stadium.

This is why people drag up old threads of you making a twat of yourself DB. You regularly make smug statements about things have you no clue about.

Maine Road was never full when they went down, it just had more people there than the smaller stadiums.

And eastlands looked half empty last night.

A fuck off Del, if anyone else had said that you wouldn't have bothered. He exaggurated saying filled, but the general consensus here seems to be that they had a high attendances despite the fact that they were down the divisions. Really no need to have a go.

They did have higher attendance than most when they went down I believe, and to be fair they always had pretty high attendances in the Premier League even when they were shit.

Sheffield Wednesday were another club who kept their attendances pretty high even when they slipped down the divisions.

Newcastle on the other hand were not one of these clubs.

Newcastles average attendance last season was 43387, the next highest was Derby with about 29000.

This season it's 46545. I'd say their attendance was quite good.

I meant when they went down previously and had Ossie Ardiles as manager.

Their attendance dropped to around 16000 then jumped up to about 33000 when they got back into the top flight

Yeah it was, but they were doing well.

I think even the most fickle of fans will stick with clubs when they go down at first, simply because they think they will at least start to see them winning a few games, which after a relegation season must make a nice change! Its when they don't do well, the rot sets in and they start to even struggle in the lower division when fans stop going.

So we should make an exception when DB's wrong, because what - he's always wrong?

He was inferring that our support wouldn't be as good as Man City's were we to befall a similar plight, based on his opinion which he purported as fact.

When this was pointed otu to him, he just flip-flopped over to another point.

If you don't want us to point out the bullshit, tell your mate not to post it in the first place.

A touching, if feeble, defence.

It was a typically moronic thing to say, and a dig at our own fans to boot.
