This probably has been done to death in most football forums throughout the years but i was googling something about Ronaldo the other day and stumbled upon his Youtube vids.

And then just like that, my long-lost love for football came flooding back. Ronaldo really was a freak of nature wasn't he ? Truly a phenomenon. He was probably the only player who made me LOL each time he played, simply because of the absurdity of the things he'd do on the pitch. He brought so much joy to the beautiful game, and would make me wanna put on my boots and run out to play.

The only player who scored a hattrick in a CL game and Old Toilet would applaud him off the pitch.

I don't care what anyone says about Messi or CR7, but R9 was the best i've ever seen.

If VAR had existed back then, we'd never get to enjoy the best of R9.

I watched most of that video. In my mind, I could only really remember him as a goalscorer, not for all the tricks.

Great player.

Yep, didn't achieve anywhere near as much as Messi and C Ronado, mostly through injury, but his levels of talent were near impossible to match,

The very dribblers don't just simply react to what's in front of them. They have mentally picked a route out and they what they're going to do 5 seconds before a defender gets a chance to react. Ronaldo was one of them - and it was done at such electric speed and acceleration, combined with that Brazilian control, it made it bordering on impossible to stop. He scored goals that you would seldom see in football; the sort where it made it look like a professional footballer was playing against children. Only the elite players in the game can do that on such a regular basis.

Insane player.

I remember laughing when he put a defender on his arse by giving him a sniff of the ball and taking it away from him whenever the defender took a swing at it. I think it was a champions league match in about 03.

Was my favourite player as a kid along with Fowler and Zola. Agree with the op about his magic being at a higher level than Messi and Cristiano.

This helps to explain why Zola remained in his prime for many years allowing you to become old enough to appreciate his genius, and the other two did not.

Football was mad different before it became this stat-driven gamified nonsense. Now it's people passionately talking about shit like xG or FIFA ratings, VAR drawing the offside lines and Mason Mount dedicating a goal celebration to a youtuber. Dead

Thought peak Ronaldinho was similar. Just had a lot of fun taking the piss out of defenders

When football was football. Passion, love for the game. Hate for other teams and players. Shouting at tv. Going to the pub for an all day session on a Sunday. Looking up results on Teletext. Nothing but football.

I despise today’s game and honestly could give 2 flyin fucks about any of it. Game is dead.
