If Kane had no Son?

Yet again the press ranting on about Kane and his need to move on to be successful. There are loads of stats that say he's a top striker outright and you'd have to be an idiot to say he's not. However, at Tottenham a fair proportion of his success has come from (a) Tottenham playing for him and (b) Son and him forming a potent partnership.

If he left Spurs and split the Son/Kane team would he be as effective elsewhere?

Yes. There are several Sons at City unfortunately.
His instincts in terms of evading his markers or getting in behind defenders is top class so it'll be easy for him in a higher quality attacking team.

Love the thread title !!!

Kane is a fantastic striker and one of the worlds best without doubt. As some have said he is like Sheringham and Shearer combined - make of that what you will but I get that totally.

But to answer the question and its just a comparison - think Bobby (without the finishing ability of Kane obviously) before Salah and Mane, you all thought it and it was kind of true - he was pretty useless like really fucking useless. I think having Son around highlights the other aspects of Kane's game beyond just finishing that you would not see if he did not have such a willing runner like Son.

What I can't see is a _top_ team setting out to play 100% to his strengths nor `another Son` happy to play second fiddle so completely.

Lesser teams do the 'maximising the star' thing; Leicester with Vardy, us with Suarez, Newcastle with Shearer. I can't see one of the top European teams adjusting to play to Kane's strengths and having such willing 'bit part' players

City does seem obvious when Aguero left but I'm now not so sure. They don't really need him and he may be ultimately disruptive

At 29 (in July) it's make or break year for him as far as a top team is concerned ... in fact I could see City moving on from him as a target, £150m for maybe 3 years max at the top of his game? United on the other hand would probably take him and see Ronaldo off.

Yeah, you could stick Kane anywhere and he'd score shit loads. The fact he's been able to pick up false 9 positions and ping world class passes to Son only advertises what a brilliant, all round player he is.

His only downsides are he's pretty slow and lazy out of possession and he's got a Spurs mentality, that means he's able to drop points three times a month and still sleep at night. As club captain he has to take some of the responsibility for the squad mentality over the years.

I’d say his biggest downside is that he’s a sloppy slack-jawed mongy twat…..

Then I remember he plays for Spurs.

Kane is an open mouth fog horned cunt but a brilliant footballer. He's at an age though and has a injury record with dodgy ankles were you'd wonder if a team paying 100s of millions in wages and fees will even get a decent deal in terms of returns. Then you remember its City that want to buy him and that they couldnt care less about the money.

I'd love Son in our team though. The rest of the Spurs team is meh.

The only team that I think would buy him is United.

City haved showed they don't need him, and would probably go for a much younger model of they went for a striker. We couldn't afford, nor would want him. Chelsea can't spend another window paying top dollar for a striker surely? Especially with Roman fucking off.

No, it's United or bust for him now.

Unpopular opinion, but I think he'd be perfect for us. I said it last summer.
Decent link up play, dangerous in the air. I mean, Trent and Robbo would easily get 20 assists each

He could fit our system, but I do think it'd be at a cost of other players. I also have doubts over his workrate in our system

Key word, easily.

A big piece of my soul will die if I ever see Harry Kane with his open mouth drooling on his Liverpool kit. Nightmare.

I reckon he would be the perfect Bobby replacement.
Though he may not want to play the assistant to anyone.
