I wonder if this could ever happen to a premier league footballer.

A Sunday League footballer who deliberately stamped on an opponent's leg, breaking it in several places, has been jailed for a year.
Nathaniel Kerr, 24, pleaded guilty at Manchester Crown Court to assault.
The 30-year-old victim, Stuart Parsons, had been arguing with one of Kerr's team-mates just before the incident in Stockport last August, the court heard.
Mr Parsons had reconstructive surgery on his right ankle and spent weeks in hospital after the assault.

The incident happened two minutes into the first game of the season between Emigration FC and AFC Gold Cup in the Stockport Sunday league.

Mr Parsons, a defender for Emigration FC, said he had touched the ball just twice when Kerr lunged at him in a two-footed tackle, dislocating his ankle and breaking it in two places.
As he lay in agony on the pitch off Jackson's Lane, Hazel Grove, Kerr shouted to a team-mate: "I've done this 'cos of you."
PC Louise Spencer, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "This injury has had a catastrophic effect on the victim's life, meaning he has been unable to work or support his young family.
"He is self-employed and the injury meant he was forced to rely on the kindness of his team-mates, who arranged fundraisers and charity events to provide the financial support he needed," she added.
"All the while Kerr has shown absolutely no remorse for his vicious attack, calling the victim a 'wimp' and verbally abusing him as he was lying in agony on the pitch."
She said the arrest and prosecution showed "aggression and thuggery" during sporting fixtures will not be tolerated.

Pretty much what should have happened to Roy Keane after the Alf-Inge Haaland incident.

Horrific that. Guess if there's obvious intent to harm (like keane), then charges could be made against allayed at any level. Difficulty determining intent though unless you state it like Keane did.

He was aggressive, had a temper, wound himself up, provoked the defendant, and that's why his leg was so tensed up. Get some medical evidence in, biomechanics. Had he not been so aggressive, then his leg would have been relaxed and not have snapped. Case closed.

In two weeks it will have been 20 years since Duncan Ferguson got three months for nutting someone during a match.

I wore it to a wedding. The groom said don't worry, drink, get drunk, I'll get someone to drive your car back to the villa. He got a french hooker, who was hot. There was a slight grapple over which of us got to the passenger seat first. I went over the bonnet and landed in the muddy ground.

I've got to file the court papers on Monday morning. Hence I haven't shaved or been to the dry cleaners since returning. I don't understand why I didn't do this in the previous two years. Now I have to do it in two days. FML

Was she tight too, drunk that is. Or was she a george-ous big rugby player? You were fighting for.

In theory a premier league player who acted like that would be MORE likely to get sent to prison, because there would be much more evidence.

However, although premier league footballers are probably just as thick as this fella, the clubs are more powerful and they would have much better lawyers
