The night we played Salzburg I forgot to fire up Old Faithful till quite late on. I've been involved in a big project concerning the special school where I'm a governor and it's meant a whole series of late nights. When I *did* remember I turned OF on. Within 5 minutes Mighty Mo had put us back in front. This now is getting spooky.

Incidentally, while I haven't looked it up I'm pretty sure we lost to an Austrian team at Anfield in the final qualifying round of the 2004/5 CL, but went through because we beat them by more at their place. The rest, as they say, is history. 😎

I too nearly had to confess.

I missed most of the first half as I was at a staff meeting, I was messaging my lad (who is now away at college) and he was saying "FFS just leave the meeting".

I managed to get home when we were 3-0 up, but within 60 seconds of turning on the TV it was 3-1. When it got to 3-3 my lad messaged me to tell me to go back to the meeting, but luckily Mo saved my arse. If he hadn't I would have been facing into a season of arranging meetings to clash with matches ...

That's the one. Owen sat on the bench in a vital qualifier and that's when we knew he was off. Think Stevie scored the goal for us to go through.

Was interesting hearing that the club told him he wasn't playing cos they didn't want him him cup tied while they negotiated his fee, & that it wasn't his choice to sit the game out, although it was his choice to start the negotiations, obv.

I'm becoming fair weathered. I off the telly at 3-3 Salzburg, and 1-1 yesterday. I couldn't watch and I seek refuge in 6CM, reloading the match thread furiously.

Seemed to work.

I'm intending to find a shit stream which lags by 1 min or so, so that i will get the news first on 6CM, then enjoy the hell out of the next few mins (could work either ways though).

My heart couldn't take shit like this recently.

I wish. The term suggests a fair amount of use over the years, and all I can say to that is "Chance would be a fine thing". 🙁
