How Should We Set Up

There have been various posts that the modern era does not have a first choice 11 and that we set up depending on the opposition and whether we are at home or away.

Klopp has indicated their will be a little rotation, which I believe will be the case for the back 5 but upfront I think there will be.

I wouldn't be surprised with the following starting when at home, with the possibility of Wijnaldum coming on for Coutinho and Henderson for Lallana to try and close out the game. When we are away possibly start with Wijnaldum over Coutinho for the extra workload.

Firmino Sturridge Mane.

Coutinho Can/Henderson Lallana

Milner Lovren Matip Clyne

Karius

I'm old fashioned but even I accept that the days of pinning your team sheet up irrespective of the opposition and other circumstances such as form and scheduling etc are long gone. That said, I think it's vitally important to have a settled defensive unit...not just the personnel but the juxtaposition and style of play. That applies not just to the most frequent starters but also those who have to come in as like for like replacements from time to time.

Our recent transfer market activity has been widely criticised but what it has undoubtedly left us with is a range of options from the midfield forward and this is where the manager should and will have room for manoeuvre.

For me, the absolute no-brainer starters would usually be Karius (hopefully!), Clyne, Matip, Milner, Can, Mane and Sturridge (Klopp's list would also include Lovren). Depending on the opposition, form and other circumstances, we have lots of options between Coutinho, Firmino, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Stewart, Lallana and Origi. That bunch will form the basis of the side for the foreseeable. I've named 15 players there and my bet is without Europe we won't line up this season with fewer than seven or even eight of that lot in the 11.

Yer men Klavan, Moreno, Gomez, Ings, Grujic and Lucas will be filling in the gaps.

WOW!!!! A like from Brendan. Well done that man. This means that Ryan is now the only poster who doesn't give any likes. Ironically, Ryan whines when he posts something that doesn't get liked. 'I thought that would have got more love'. It would, but you gotta give some to get some.

He's always been needy. And compounds that by protesting loudly that he isn't needy.

Which makes it even funnier

Shouldn't a like from Brendan attract its own Trophy Points?
