Only watched the highlights from MOTD but he made a few good saves and got a clean sheet.
Still not good enough to be Pepe's understudy or wasn't he tested enough?

He did fine, mostly. Like I said in the match thread, his performance was better than anything I have seen from Reina this season.

It's an odd scenario really and the reserve goallie generally always gets stick and instills trepidation whenever the prospect of having to rely on him happens. He's done well, he has made a few errors but by and large, as a back up keeper I think he's done quite well for us. That was definitely his best performance yesterday. He made some good saves and some good punches to clear the ball.

Was pretty decent last night, commanded his box very well.

You could pretty much hear all of his calls when a cross would come in ... and he saved us big time on at 1 v 1.

not bad. i could see him doing a decent job for 2/3 games, but being a keeper is about consistency and I am unsure if he has that. at the very least I hope he has made Reina think twice about not being able to replace him.

Yep, he was good yesterday. He kicked it poorly a couple of times towards the end but all in all good.

He can be our nr 2 this season.

This Pepe thing has become silly.

Jones made a couple decent saves that you'd expect any keeper to make. It really changes nothing.

His flap at a players legs could've resulted in a goal and he's dropped one or two clangers himself this season.

He wasnt very good at Boro and he's still not very good now.

I'm sure someone had him ahead of Suarez and Johnson for MOM in the match thread as well. Absurd.

He did what any keeper should do.
Saved savable shots and distributed the ball capably.

I'd still have Reina in any day.

So I guess if a striker "just scores goals" he's jusy doing the bare minimum requirement of his role too.

He might not be very good, but people are getting ridiculously miffed at him getting a bit of credit.

It's not him getting credit, it's him getting ott credit whilst bashing Pepe.

Giving Jones a MOM credit is ridiculous. If Pepe was in goal yesterday he wouldn't have gotten a mention or a thread.

It's the same thing when youngsters get a go and manage to play a pass to a team-mate... people are falling over each to name him in their MOM.

Jones isn't some young kid or lost puppy. He's been around for a while and I'll rate him as I would any other senior player as opposed to this "Awww bless didn't he do well" attitude.

Ok, but I haven't bashed Pepe and I was one of the few who acknowledged him in the MOTM thread. He had a good game, was solid, commanding and made some saves. Suarez was a menace throughout but missed some good chances that could have prevented us winning had it not been for a few so called rudimentary saves.

Well therein lies the issue for me, all this outrage has stemmed from a MOTM thread, not a career rating. There is no "awwww bless" attitude.

All this "he's shit so I refuse to admit it when he had a good game" is worse.

Firstly I made no reference to your posts - you replied to mine - so there is no need to justify yourself.

Secondly, where did I say that I refuse to give him credit?

He had a decent game, nothing outstanding, and that's it. That's how I've rated his performance and I think that's fair. I do think some of the comments are a bit out of whack, yeah, but that has less to do with Jones and more to do with attitudes towards Reina.

Coming in, not making drastic mistakes, being composed and helping us keep clean sheets. Exactly what a deputy should be doing. More in fact.

Fair play. I don't give a shit if he's 'not young anymore so can't be applauded for it', he's doing exactly what we require of him and not getting flustered in the process. Safe hands and relatively good distribution, well done son.
