Do you think if Mcmanaman had stayed we could have won the league?

Westerveld
Staunton
Hyppia
Henchoz
Heggem

Mcmanaman
Hamman
Mcallister
Gerrard

Owen
Fowler

Sub - Berger, Heskey, Murphy, Thompson, Redknapp, Matteo, Reidle.

No one who played wide for us in the few years that followed (Berger, Smicer, Zeige, Murphy etc) showed any great consistency. Do you think Mcmanaman would have made the difference?

no, i don't think we'd ever have won the title under Houllier. and your side should include Heskey instead of Fowler, really.

no.

I think the last genuine chance we had of the league was the '08. if we had macca in his prime instead of riera then maybe that would have won us the league.

By the time McManaman left Anfield he was a shadow of his former self. I don't believe that he would have made any impact if he had stayed.

he was still his old self at madrid long after he'd left. I think if mcmanaman had stayed, and fowler didn't get his injury then those two together would have won the league.

I don't think that's true at all in fact I think the complete opposite, i.e. everything went through macca and stopping liverpool was simply a matter of stopping macca.

Didn't he go half arsed in his last few months or am I imagining that?

yeah, but leading up to that everything went through him, as least that what I think. I was happy to see him go because we had become far too predictable.

sorry what team are you adding McManaman into ? The 01 team ? if so why wouldn't you have Babbel and carragher in there ? Ok babbel got sick but at the very least what is stan doing in the team ? he was pretty average his 2nd time here .

anyway i doubt mcmanaman would have worked well with houllier .

He was an extremely talented and skillful footballer, but lacked the competitiveness and work-rate to influence games a much as he should have.

I loved watching him as I grew up and was gutted when he left.
