I was flicking through my sky+ last night and watched Stevie's goals against Hungary again.

I love those goals and especially his Stuart Pearce like celebration after the 1st.

It got me thinking when I saw that second goal, has he ever scored a more skillful goal

We always associate Stevie with outside the box blasters but for pure skill, the 1st touch, the dribble, the shoulder shimmy to mislead the defender then the acceleration and the finish.

Has he scored a more Messi like goal ever

Genius

I dunno about it being his best goal- this is Steven Gerrard, scorer of some fucking ridiculously good goals, and he has scored a few like that before. Still, it was a very nice goal.

I'm just made up to see him have such a cracking game (and in the UEFA game). In those two games I saw more of SG than I glimpsed in the whole of last season.

He's fired up, no question.
He has a manager now that will put the arm around him and whisper sweet nothing in his ear, just as he has always wanted. He's been told he is going to play in HIS favoured position and he looks like he is relishing that. I'm expecting big things from him this season.

You're right Fox, I do not recall him scoring a more skillfull goal before. The one goal that made me the happiest was the 2006 FA cup final one. I went beserk when that flew in.

Can't remember which match but how about the one where Stevie receives a a long ball at the edge of the box, takes one touch, turns his body, swivels and scores.

That goal against Boro always stands out for me.

What a fucking belter.

I'm confident there is only one man in this planet, who can score a goal like that.

Jesus I still haven't seen these fricking goals coz where I was they had The Gelmets v The Danes. A manc mate of mine said he almost forgot how much he hated Gerrard when the second one went in, it removed that decade of disgust for a moment.

*goes to youtube*

What the effing shit? That first one was brilliant... but he's scored a load like that... but the second... wut? Amazing.
