Better keeper than Jones though.
Not based on his Anfield career...
Was he? Probably. Is he? God knows. It's probably unlikely we'll know unless he gets a long run in the side, which surely no one wants, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's on a bigger wage than Jones. He hasn't even had a pre-season. Hopeless.
Where was that announced???
I think he's a better GK - as long as he doesn't come back in Southall's body, he'll be better imo.
In the Echo mate, said he aggrivated the injury in training before the Everton game. Dont know how long he's out for but he'll miss the game tomorrow.
This. Doni has actually looked OK to me when he's had his chance, but it's a worry that the last time he played was so long ago.

Echo report says he agreed to be on the bench despite hurting himself in the warmup, as Gulacsi was unavailable due to some stitches in his hand opening up. So we're effectively down to one fit keeper at the moment I think.
Our inability to sign a decent back-up to Reina is laughable. In fact since the bizarre Kirkland/Dudek same-day-signing (and apart from signing Pepe) our goalkeeping recruitment policy seems to be haphazard and hugely ineffective.
When we first signed Reina I suggested we just needed an older keeper (e.g. 35+ with experience, Jaskeleinen, Friedel, etc) to provide back up and a young kid (18-20) with potential as our 3rd choice.
Next summer we should get rid of all our keepers bar Pepe (I still believe in him) and offer Crystal palace £1m for Julian Speroni (he's a fine keeper and at 34 he'll probably quite like to see out his career at a big club even as No.2). He will only have one year left on his contract so £1m should seal the deal.
Then, we offer Sheffield United £2m for their 18 year old keeper George Long (who IMO will prove to be better than Butland who Birmingham want £12m for!) and we'll be sorted.

Quick follow up..........I just had a quick scout around t'internet for more info on George Long and noticed that Man United and Aston Villa have both been linked with £3m bids for Long so I suggest we match that then and offer a decent sell-on-clause too.
Between him, Speroni and Pepe we'll be sorted for keepers very nicely and all for an outlay of £4m (less whatever we might get for Doni, Jones and Gulacsi).

Jones 1st half, Doni 2nd half? I really don't know, our choice of keepers is so poor especially as Pepe is out of form (probably the fact he has no decent competition is partly to blame for his poor form)
Not convinced it's really him. Surely the lizard men in Boston ate him and this is just a pod person impersonating the real Doni.
