Reports today that Van Gaal didn't want anything to do with him before he was fired - felt he wouldn't adapt to the Premier League and would struggle like Kagawa did.

Mourinho is supposedly Mata'ing him - he's barely seen the pitch or bench since the Man City game - and he'll be sold in Jan or the June.

@rurikbird I think mentioned this before the season that he wouldn't fit into that team due to where he had to play to succeed ... good call sir.

Where will he end up?

Why though?

He looked class at Dortmund.

Very strange.

If I remember correctly, Rurik said he had to play in the middle of the park behind a striker to be able to dictate pace and touch the ball enough ... He's behind Pogba (and until recently, Rooney). On the wing, he's just not able to influence the game much ...

Too many similar players fighting for the same position. I mentioned it to my brother who's a man U supporter.

How are you supposed to play Mkhitaryan, Pogba, Rooney, Mata together? 'since they're all comfortable in that behind the striker, tip of the midfield triangle role.

Honestly I think it's still too early to call curtains on his United career – unless there is some kind of attitude issue we don't know about. Right now his biggest problem is that United's 2 most hyped-up players – Rooney and Pogba – are hogging the #10 position and he doesn't have the skill-set of a Mourinho winger. If Rooney were to leave in January, he would have a much clearer route into the starting lineup.

Still it's funny how many people (including pundits) instantly tipped him for success at United without taking even a few moments to think how he can possibly fit in. My favorite is the Russian journalist Yaroshevsky (yeah, the same bloke who prematurely announced that Mkhitaryan's transfer to LFC was "done") who in the summer tweeted something like "I cannot see any possible scenario for Mkhitaryan not to be a HUGE success at United, too bad for LFC." Talk about being willfully blind...

Remember when Mkhitaryan played 45 mins in pre season and everyone thought he would rip it up in the league? Phew!!
I presumed he would be excellent for them. Really happy with his limited playing time.

Think the Telegraph reported that some of the Utd coaches were concerned about how suitable he is for the Premier League. That isnt a good sign for him.
Its to early to say that he'll be a flop or not but Mourinho doesnt seem to want to include him at all, which isnt a good sign.

If he doesnt play a part today in the League cup then things doesnt look good for him..

Bailly and Pogba were two signings United clearly wanted.
I always assumed Mkhitaryan was part of the cost of doing business on those deals - they did the agent a favour in order to land Pogba.

Much like United and Chelsea took Falcao as a favour to Mendes.

Wasn't he recovering from an injury?
Anyway, it's too early for a verdict on his MU career. If things continue to look bad for them, Mourinho will probably look for other solutions, and playing Mkhitaryan might be one.

Not the right fit at United.

He was Bundesliga best player in a free flowing attacking Dortmund side - the complete opposite of what United are.

Quality player no doubt.

Yes, he's not the right fit for this Man Utd. That's a bit of a relief because he's very direct and deceptively quick on the ball - not to mention can finish. He could be a big player for them if they'd gone for a different manager.

Klopp bought him with a clear idea of where and how he would play. (“Mkhitaryan fits us like an arse in a bucket,” he told Bild. “What he offers is exactly what we need.”) The mancs bought him in spite of doubting where and how he'd play in a Mourinho team. It's what that club does now.

You can say the same about Pogba. There doesnt seem to be a plan to where he'll fit in, and as one of the hacks said it looks like Woodward "trying to show he has the balls to get a marquee player signed".

I think Souness & Carragher are spot on about his limitations as a CM. His athleticism does get him out of a jam but the Man City league game showed how he can be totally by passed. Some of his forward runs were ridiculous.

I think the point about Woodward wanting to be Billy Big Bollocks is spot on. He's a tool.

I understand they let him go for free many years ago and then he did well in Italy. There is a sign in this if ever there was. If a player dont make it at club X and he gets sent to another league and does well that samw player will not do well at club X on his return. Maybe at a club Y he may fit in but not at club X.

Quite right. One should never sign for club X. Clubs V, W & Y are fine, Z is pushing it - but never club X. Come to think of it, I wouldn't trust club Q either.

Shut the fuck up!

Yup. I'd be willing to bet that replacing David Gill with that to$$er will damage them nearly (perhaps even fully) as much as losing Ginsoak.

Hi raz - go fuck yourself but you probably do that already and Pogba is shit in case you had some kind of affection for that Manc player.

I can't work out if Raz is cool and insouciant, or if I'm giving him perhaps a million times more credit than he deserves.
