Lets be honest here, both are big talents, particularly the latter who has age on his side to just get better and better.
Is it me though or have both inflated their own worth due to taking leading roles in an other wise disastrous squad? We have some good players, but the additions made in the Summer have done little to add to the quality, while Gerrard's decline has been more and more noticeable. So Sterling leading the line and adding a respectful amount of goals and Henderson being up there in the assist charts, has glossed over what are otherwise, two lads still learning the ropes, still more than capable of putting in uninspiring, unproductive performances. Sterling is capable of missing a shitload of chances, which may be due to age, fair enough. Henderson on the other hand can be a pretty "flat" midfielder, as we saw recently for England, where his sideways/backwards passing and lack of extra class showed, certainly in comparison to more technically attack minded players like Barkley (who has had a poor domestic season).
Talk of £100k-£150k contracts is ridiculous really, had we brought in some real quality in the Summer, they would be supplementing those players, rather than imitating untouchable assets you would move heaven and earth to keep. They're good young players capable of the odd prodigious moments, but still miles and miles away from the finished articles, yet they've elevated themselves to the kind of status afforded to the likes of Torres, Alonso and Suarez a few years back, players who were at the peak of their respective games and who deserved the adoration and rewards.
