Has Klopp turned it around?

After the Spurs defeat we were 9th 7 points behind Spurs and Utd and some were seriously questioning if Klopp had what it takes.

Three games on and we are 1 pts behind Spurs in fourth and 4 from 2nd.

City already look uncatchable but a run at 2nd isn't out of the question now.

Three wins on the bounce, lots of goals, key players coming back.

Potentially CL knock out stages tied up this week.

False dawn or is our inconsistent best just around the corner?

Add Lallana into the mix and we should have a strong Xmas

The same problems are still there -
Ming needs replacing.
We need 1-2 better CBs
We need a more capable defensive CM if we're not going to play with a DM
We need a striker who does what Bobby does and scores 1 every 2-3 games.
but I think Klopp is aware of them more than he was last year.

I am more interested to see how we respond to a Chelsea team with a world class striker & #10 ... last time we faced that, a 4-1 loss.

It helped that we had shite opposition: Huddersfield, Maribor, West Ham and Southampton. Sevilla and Chelsea will be far sterner tests.
That may be so but in the PL we've faced 9 Top 10 teams in 12 PL matches. I said pre-season we'd finish Top 4 and I'm even more confident now. A run at 2nd isn't out of the question. As always injuries have a massive influence on the PL (as Chelsea in particular have shown) so if we don't get more than our fair share we'll be well in the mix.

I still can't fathom why we aren't giving Gomez a shot at CB. Surely he's better than Iceman Klavan.

... against the likes of which we have routinely dropped points if not gifted wins.

I do agree though, that Southampton offered very little-- almost like the match against Man U when a number of people thought Lovren had a stormer of a game "shackling" Lukaku. We know what stop at Wembley

The matchagainst Chlesea and Sevilla will be genuine tests and I saw poor habits again yesterday that would be punished by such sides. I hope we punish their mistakes just as ruthlessly, though, if we are to be contenders.

Which poor habits did you see yesterday? I saw a solid performance where a Saints team, that a few weeks back pushed Scum so deep into their own 16 yard box that they har to replace two of their offensive players with Smalling and Blind to save the game, didn't have a sniff.

The few times Southampton pushed into our half, I saw a needless foul on the edge of the box, an aimlessly hooked clearance which then resulted in a corner and a nervy hesitation which gave Long an undeserved sniff at goal.

He's changed the formation a bit which has certainly helped us having a little more stability at the back, I hope that continues.

Yeah, he has tinkered or perhaps the players are listening better. We have more players looking around them and hanging back from attacks if we're looking over-committed. In fairness, Klopp has always seemed to say that we can't all go gung-ho and abandon the defenders, but the players have gone ahead and done it. Maybe they're learning a bit more in terms of sharing defensive responsibility.

I think there's a lot in that. All I would add is that I suspect it's not a matter of either/or. My bet is that Klopp's made changes and the players have got their @rses into gear better.

Indeed. Probably the same people who labels a player shite after 2-3 games.

Don't forget people like me - in the case of Mo Salah - I thought he was shit before he kicked a ball for us and thought he would be a complete fucking flop.

Weren't you the one who said we were f***ked as shit a few weeks back?

Even if you are Real Madrid or Barca you'll still give the opposition a chance or two to score during any match (Saints had 5 shots and not one on target BTW). The fact that stats show that any team (even those in the Top 6) usually only take 1:5 or 1:6 of the chances\half-chances that comes their way proves that usually a chance or two for the opposition doesn't define the result. So picking up on a couple of FKs and a booted clearance (which all teams do occasionally anyway) is pretty poor pickings for 90 mins. Which is undoubtedly why pretty much everyone, commentators, media, fans alike, are calling it an excellent and professional performance.
