He was excellent last season and will get better and better. I reckon next season he'll play a significant role in our title win.

Did they egg him or something?

Actually I was a little bit disappointed with his general form last season but I am still a big fan of his.
He had some absolutely top drawer, this guy is going to be world class, performances on occasions, notably against Everton and Arsenal.
There were many other games where he just didn't hit those heights and seemed to be disheartened by it.He did come in for more close attention from opposing teams than he seemed to get in his first half a season with us which would have impacted his performance levels
He is young so inconsistency is almost to be expected too I guess.
I am very hopeful that next season will be the one in which he really breaks through, overtaking the likes of Oscar in peoples perceptions.

Pity he isn't in the squad. Imagine his birthday and WC opening ceremony. Talk about a party.

Unfortunately he'll prob be watching it with Rio Ferdinand and the Da Silva twins at home.

I think the lad has moments of sheer brilliance, but he's basically like a slightly more talented garcia currently, & that inconsistency isn't good enough at the level we are striving for.

He's still young though, that inconsistency comes from inexperience, when he gets a year or two down the line he'll be a phenomenal player, he's as close as I can see in the league to David Silva, and with his ability to pick it up deeper and thread passes over a longer range, he has the ability to be even better.

Spot on. He has so much potential its unreal. We have a real gem on our hands. He's awesome.

I really don't get the Garcia comparisons, and I loved Luis, but he was there as a game changer, a match winner who would produce a goal from nothing. Coutinho is very much the playmaker that Luis wasn't. He might have found it more difficult last season due to being closed down more, but he has the ability to dictate attacking play. Totally different player to what Garcia was.

Similar to the Sterling thread really, its all there for him if he wants to be one of the best around.

Love Coutinho as much as the next fan but he has a lot to work on still, his decision making and end product need to improve, his shooting really is piss poor for a player of his talent, we know how brilliant he is when it all clicks, we need to be seeing more of that.

When I say he was excellent last season I'm saying excellent for a 21 year old kid playing his first full season in England; next season he'll be excellent with no caveats.

I thought he was proper sketchy last season. But as you say hes young and new.
No concerns, but i expect more this season. Especially with his fucking shooting, which was total mad womans piss.

Well the good thing is, for how mad woman's piss it is, he managed to pull a few out the hat against the big sides.

That & his inconsistency is why I compared him to garcia. Not playing style or position. I similarly compared garcia to Danny Murphy for the same reasons.

I understand he's young & could well be why he's so inconsistent, but Sterling has shown you can provide constant levels for longer at a similar age. However I think & hope they'll both be world beaters.

The good thing is, they compliment eachother well. Neither are your completely orhodox winger/playmaker, both can do a bit of both, which is handy for us, given we like to play with alot of fluidity and the ability to interchange in attack.

I get what you mean about Garcia and Murphy, in that sense. Both frustrated because they tried things and as a result, conceded possession regularly. I guess it's what's opposite to what I feel about someone like Lucas, who's tidy but does nothing eye catching or risque. Give me creative, adventurous players any day of the week, in those positions.

That video makes Coutinho look amazing and everyone else a bit shit. The number of times he puts players clean through on goal only for them to fluff it.

Anyways, I like Coutinho. He's good.
