Hamstring, I agree it is a very ugly word and should be banned

Really fucks me off - reminds me of Pork, can we not call it something like Halalstring, or Kosherstring ?

I blame the curtain round the training ground, it's trapping all the negative mojo at important times

FA should really consider giving clubs a break during winter. Dunno how though considering the cup competitions.

Reduce the number of teams in the league.

You would need a majority of Permier League clubs to vote for it though and that would never happen.

Simplest solution would be to bin the league cup and parachute the premier league sides into the FA cup a round later.

Are people blaiming Klopp for the injuries when we play so many games with virtually no rest between them?
That Raymond Verheijen sounds like a massive cunt

He is blaming him and he isn't alone doing it.

What they don't mention is that many clubs in the PL have had or have the same injury problems as us. I think the pre-season is the main reason. Instead of training the clubs play lucrative friendlies worth millions travelling half around the world and back. The players don't get enough rest before the pre-season and don't train hard enough as a result of it.

Klopp discovered that straight away and he is trying to correct it.

Well this was entirely predictable, so there is some blame for Klopp. But there's also plenty of justification for Klopp's approach.

I said it when Klopp took over, we never looked particulary fit under Rodgers so the training intensity increase was absolutely required and the increase in injuries is something we just have to live with for now.

That said the frequency of hamstring problems needs to be looked at. There's a reason for it and it could be identified - it could be something as simple as too many sprints in training.

So is it fair to assume that as the players get more up to speed on Klopp's fitness regime the injuries will become less frequent? - i.e. it is a side effect of changing as opposed to the regime itself?

Probably depends on the pre-season. Two championships this summer won't help. First the 2016Euros and then the 2016Olympics. Will be many tired players. If a player play in both then he will more or less don't get any rest at all and no pre-season training.

A few of our players won't be fit enough to play the first few weeks next season because they need to rest and do they own pre-season training.

That would be the general assumption I'd make as well. Albeit that one or two may not adapt at all.

I'd imagine its pretty difficult to get the training in at the moment and a good pre season would solve a lot of problems

Surely at this time of year with at least two matches a week there would be very little hard training done, would it all not be about recovery sessions and rest for the players who are playing.

Yeah i guess so, but if you're not up to speed on your strength and fitness at the outset you need more recovery time and rest at this point of the season

I think Klopp said yesterday that he had to take a look at the training now and will probably make some adjustments.
At the moment its probably just recovery work anyway. January is just one big match fixture. Which means that those not up to speed will be even more vulnerable for injuries like Ross said.

To be fair the ones criticizing Klopp are also having a go at the fixture list.

I got the impression that he laughed off the suggestion that the training was the cause, and specifically said that at the moment there is no training, only recovery.

Klopp responded sarcastically to suggestions that his training regime could be a contributory factor in Liverpool’s injury crisis, before saying that the hectic fixture schedule means that it is impossible to do much more than recover between games.

“Yes that’s it, we will look at our training!” he said. “We don’t train, we only recover, that is the situation now. When should we train? There is no training. But no problem, really.

“I am responsible for these things and if you want to make me responsible, then that’s OK, I know that’s the next step. We have five hamstrings [injuries] and it’s my responsibility, but it is like it is and now we have to see what we can do.”

Ah, sorry. Just read the one quote from him.

Ah, sorry just read the one quote from him. That explains it a bit better 🙂
