It was posted elsewhere. As sublime as it was, I'd want my attacker to be shooting from there every time. The defender is not that far behind and it should be a routine finish.

Salgado was one of the Sky studio pundits and, bearing in mind he knows Guti very well, said "crazy man, crazy player".
They went on to talk about Guti's "controversial" reputation and Salgado said if he had the same kind of mind as Raul, Guti could've been like Zidane.
I saw Beckham doing a "Team Mates" feature when he was still at Real, and he said Guti was the most skillfull.

I think it was brilliant, you watch footy for stuff like that. You can ask your 'what ifs' but the fact is it did come off and it looked frickin superb.

Of course, I wouldn't disagree with that. Although I think it's slightly easier to make that call when:
a) it worked and
b) it's not your team
Mind you, I don't think we've got any players who can do that anyway, so I don't suppose it's ever likely to come up.

No, it was quite brilliant. I do think it seemed rehearsed, though. Or Benzema did incredibly well to anticipate it/hide his surprise.

It was genius, but it was also awful school yard defending as I mentioned in the other thread, and YES that does detract from the magic of the moment.

Look carefully. He 100% checks before making the pass. He knew exactly where Benzema was.

Yeah was just going to post that, on the last replay from behind the goal you can see him clearly check over his shoulder.
Still brilliant though, you want to see inventiveness in football, he could have tucked it away and the goal would go down as just another rudimentary goal and be forgotten.
I think he's a tremendous player. Can't believe he's stayed there all this time.
