Brendan Rodgers is bracing himself for a £40million bid from Bayern Munich for Luis Suarez when Pep Guardiola makes his comeback, writes the Sunday People.
Guardiola is a huge fan of the Uruguay star who scored in Liverpool’s 5-0 win over Norwich City yesterday.
Former Barca boss Guardiola also has a straight line into Suarez because his brother is the player’s agent – and a price clause is known to him.
Guardiola wants to make a couple of landmark signings when he moves to the German giants in the summer and Suarez is on his short list.
Liverpool boss Rodgers hopes to keep Suarez happy after fending off Juventus in the last window and giving their star South American a new deal.
However Guardiola’s emergence at a European super power is sending shivers down the spines of the Kop hierarchy who badly want Champions League football to keep him sweet.
Suarez got over his latest ‘cheat’ storm with a goal in a thrashing of Norwich City yesterday, but a major move by Bayern might prove a real problem for the Anfield club.
News of the move for Suarez came as Liverpool chief Brendan Rodgers hailed the red-hot striking combo of Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, claiming they can rock the Premier League after a flying start together.

Suarez and Sturridge led the way with a goal apiece as the Kop outfit smashed Norwich 5-0 at Anfield.
Controversial Uruguayan Suarez had shouldered the burden of Liverpool’s attack throughout the start of this campaign but Sturridge’s incredible impact has eased that weight since his £12 million arrival from Chelsea earlier this month.
The England man’s strike against the Canaries made him the first player since Ray Kennedy in 1974 to bag a goal in each of his first three Liverpool outings and Suarez fired in his 20th of the campaign.
A delighted Rodgers said: “They linked very well. Luis did what he’s done for us all season, he gives 100 per cent in every game and he combines really well with Daniel up front.
“Daniel gives opponents someone else to worry about. Suarez has been incredible for us and had some young players up there with him but he’s now got a recognised goal-scorer up there with him.
“The second goal was a wonderful example how two good players link up. It was great vision from Daniel to see the run of Luis.”
Jordan Henderson lashed Liverpool ahead before Suarez and Sturridge netted. Then Steven Gerrard and Ryan Bennett’s own goal sealed the hammering.
Norwich boss Chris Hughton added: “If you look at their front two and the movement and ball retention they’ve got it makes it very difficult.”
