… someone needs to say it, Spurs were really, really dire. From the first minute they played like they were half asleep – the contrast with our players, who were buzzing around like a swarm of angry bees, couldn't be greater. They don't seem to have any identity, mutual trust or passion. I really don't know how Spurs managed to squeak out all those victories to keep themselves at the striking distance of top 4. That house of cards needed to come crashing down at some point.

To a certain degree yes, but we made them look like that, they were in a better spell than they have been all season (not saying much admittedly), but we took them right back down, slaughtered them in fact, I think it was more of a, we were that good, as opposed to Spurs were that poor, but it certainly factored in.

Agreed, said the same to my brother yesterday. Spurs just didn't seem motivated. I have a feeling that Villas Boas has lost the dressing room. There's no heart in that team.

Not much has changed from last year either - they just had Bale, who won them game after game with long range rocket.

There is no but. It was a fantastic performance and every one of our players rose to the occasion. It was a magnificent and stunning win.
Often people say it was only this or that because the opposition played shite. They played shite because we were superb from first to last and just didn't give them a foothold. End of.

Their tactics (in general, not just against us) aren't great. Soldado is often isolated, and they allowed us to get in behind their defence time after time. Skittles managed to play Suarez through with a long punt straight down the middle of the pitch as they were playing a high line despite having a slow centre back in Dawson.

Naughton was playing out of position, and was awful, Sterling skinned him over and over again, and when he wasn't being skinned he was playing everyone onside with bad positioning. Whilst their best left back has been frozen from the team.

They also don't seem to know who their best players are in midfield, and continually rotate.

If you sign that many new players (and / or change the system) then the team often has to scrape a lot of results whilst it is trying to gel, and for that part AVB has done pretty well. But they don't seem to have jelled at all.

In spite of this, they are still in a decent position in the league, and they have a decent squad on paper.

They're still a very good team IMO. But there's only so long that a team can keep playing good football, working hard for each other and not get the rewards.

Some of their play this season has been superb but often not gotten the result because they don't have a single goal scorer (apart from Defoe who never plays). That drains you when it goes on for months and Spurs looked listless to me. They should have stayed away from 3 midfielders and spent 30m on a real goal scorer. They didn't and the rest of the team is suffering because of it.

All that said, we went there and took away every bit of hope they had; we strangled them defensively and cut them to pieces in attack. We killed them were other teams (and us in the past) would have tried to strangle them 1-0 or, on a good day, 2-0.

If they're so shit as some are suggesting them why are they still in with a shout.

I understand that people are trying to rein us in to make sure we don't get too over excited but we made them look bad. It was our performance and tactics that made them look naive.

Spurs are not shit. Far from it. We deserve the plaudits for the result and the performance.

Those are the people who genuinely think the level of excitement on SCM impacts the performance of the team. The same sort of people who say things like "Cheeky bid in January?" or "Lets drop player XYZ and play ABC" ...i.e. those who live under the illusion that what they actually say on here makes a difference in the real world.

We can only beat whose in front of us and considering our poor results at The Lane, we were fantastic from the first whistle.
