Klopp sees his 3 main Strikers as Sturridge, Firmino and Origi.. Is Ings Set to leave?

In the Echo earlier this week..

[article]“Benteke, Balotelli, Ings, all the other strikers… they are really good strikers,” Klopp began, reported in the Echo.

“But at the end, having six strikers is a little too much, but is still possible.

“If we make presents because we have ‘too many strikers’, that’s the biggest mistake.

“Until August 31, I could change my mind. I’m not that type of guy but I could. We will see what happens.”

The fact Klopp has name-dropped the 24-year-old Englishman along with Benteke and Balotelli – who the whole of Europe knows are up for sale – is damning – in truth.

He'll get a chance if our top 3 strikers are Sturridge, Firmino and Origi.
Sturridge will play about 10 minutes all season, Firmino is fairly whiff and Origi will score 10 in 2 games then go 8 months without a goal then get 10 in the last 2 games.

More worried he thinks Frim is actually a striker rather a number 10 who can play as a striker in some matches.

Yeah thats all well and good but is Ings happy being fourth choice?
And what if Sturridge stays somewhat fit, that would still mean bench time for Ings

Sturridge and Firmino should be sat on their sofa at home for every single one of our cup games. Ings will get plenty of chances before proving beyond all reasonable doubt that he is not up to it.

History isn't on our side on that one. Ings hasn't had a look in at all due to a very bad injury. He was pretty impressive before he got injured.

You're reading a bit to much into that. He wont leave this summer but this season is probably make or break for him.

Ings has an interview on ssn where he basically says he knows he won't play that much but gets on with Klopp really well Ann's backs himself and the team to succeed this season

Sturridge will be on and off the injured list. But in all fairness none of our players have been more injured in their Liverpool career than Ings himself? Hell have to prove fit himself.

Let's not let the "Ings Legend" get too out of hand.

He's started 3 competitive matches for us.

I'm not saying he's shit.

I'm also not saying he's good.

Because we don't really know.

If we sell him.... I think we'll cope.

I can't see him leaving, not this season anyway. It wouldn't make much sense. He vowed to keep his head down, work hard and take his chances. The injury ruined his season but he kept to his word, he kept his head down, worked hard and now will wait once again to take his chances.

I can't wait to see him get a go this season. I love his passion and he's a tidy player and finisher.

I'm glad he sees Firmino as a striker rather than a number 10. He looks more impressive in that role than any time I've seen him in attacking midfield.

But yeah, that does side line Ings. Grouping him with Benteke and Ballotelli is both harsh and unnecessary statement from Klopp as we don't really know what he's capable of and he seems to have the right attitude to adept to any system.

He'll get chances off the bench and in the cups. He'll just need to use them opportunity to impress.

Well, the journos following Liverpool are saying that we shouldnt read much into how Klopp listed those 6 attacking options. Ings is part of his plans.

Maybe it's a motivational thing. Ings will be starting most games by the end of the season and in the last game when we win the league he'll belt the ball up to Shankly whilst screaming 'how am I doing boss?'. Shankly will head it back down and Ings will score an overhead kick from 40 yards, forever cementing his legend status

Klopp denying he is for sale now.

Silly move on Klopps part. Usually more savvy than that.

“I like Danny, really,” Klopp said. “I talked to him last week and I said in my opinion it makes more sense if he can collect game time, if he can play. What he did, he scored a goal [for Liverpool’s under-23 side], and that’s all good, but the situation here is as it is.” Klopp has already allowed Jon Flanagan to depart on loan, also to Burnley, as he continues his rehabilitation after missing more than a season with a knee injury. “It’s similar to Danny,” Klopp said. “After a long injury you need time and the opportunity to play.”

Sounds like Klopp is looking to loan out Ings for this season. Would be kind of disappointing, but on the other hand would anybody here really pick Ings ahead of Sturridge, Firmino, Origi or Mane? Probably it makes sense to loan him out, but somehow I feel disappointed about that thought.

Yeah, Klopp doesn't rate him.

Ings should look for a permanent transfer elsewhere. Players are always at risk when a new manager arrives, but I'm surprised Klopp won't even give him a chance off the bench, but there we go. He has a faultless attitude and work ethic, and will do a job anywhere.

Seems a shame.

No, that's not what I heard from the interview. He genuinely likes Ings, but thinks he needs playing time to make progress after a long-term injury and with 3-4 other strikers who have already established their claim to play while Ings was injured, it won't be easy to find that playing time here. His long-term future will depend on how he performs during that loan spell (if it indeed happens).

I guess part of my discomfort with the idea of loaning Ings is that last couple of seasons we've been so unbelievably short on strikers, particularly ones with pace and finishing ability – in 2014-15 the most effective "striker" was Sterling as "false 9" and last year arguably Firmino. So in my heart it just feels hard to accept that we might have too many strikers now and have no room for a genuinely talented and hard-working player like Ings. But my head says that with no Europe and the addition of Mane (and Origi as a quality option and Sturridge hopefully getting back on track fitness-wise) that's probably indeed the case.

I wonder if it's possible to loan out Ings with an emergency recall option or at least an option to recall him at the mid-point of the season if needed. That would probably be ideal for all parties.

I'd play ings ahead of sturridge, primarily because ings is the EXACT type of forward klopp likes

Graft and clinical
OrigIngs for the win this season

Am I missing something? A lot of people have been talking about how clinical he is, but hasn't he been a 1 in 3 striker all his career?
The speed thing as well. Is he really quick?
