Biggest splash so far - almost 40 million Euros to match his release clause.

Top top young player, playing for their biggest rival.

Wrapping up the transfer before Chelsea/City/Arsenal can get to him (as they did with Javi Martinez last year).

This team is going to be even scarier next year ...

He is an incredible player already, Bayern are going to rule Europe the coming years.

Shit news. They are just like Real Madrid.
And it makes you wonder why is it that those young players are not loyal to their clubs. I mean he's playing for Borussia Dortmund - champions of Geramny for two years running and CL semi finalists. Sad to read this.

Ka-ching!

Statement by Borussia Dortmund

Germany international Mario Götze and his agent Volker Struth informed Borussia Dortmund a few days ago that Götze wishes to trigger his release clause and move to FC Bayern Munich on 1 July 2013. "We are obviously disappointed beyond measure, but emphasise that both Mario and his agent have behaved within the terms of the contract," said Hans-Joachim Watzke, Borussia Dortmund´s chairman of the board.

Now, more than ever, BVB will not be distracted from the big dream of laying the foundation for a surprise in tomorrow´s Champions League semi-final to reach the final at London´s Wembley Stadium with an exceptional team that has developed over the years and has always risen to the challenges presented.

Together with coach Jürgen Klopp, sporting director Michael Zorc asks all Borussia Dortmund fans to support Mario Götze unconditionally as they would any other player in the final games of the season, but especially in the important Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid. No official representative of Bayern Munich has contacted Borussia Dortmund about this matter up to this date.

So he could end up playing against his new club in the CL final? That shit bugs me. Wasn't there another case like this involving Bayern a couple of years ago? Or was it PSG?

but who announced this ? Dortmund wasn't it ? And didn't they state that bayern haven't been in contact yet but were informed through his agent ?

so why the fuck did they announce this the day before a massive game and now have to deal with all the questions and backlash from their own fans ! .

Because an exclusive was ran by German tabloid Bild. Rather than keep everyone guessing, guess they decided to do without the uncertainty. Strange timing for Bild to publish it too. Probably a little bit of mischief from Bayern insiders.

Borussia Dortmund Jurgen Klopp has revealed Pep Guardiola’s role in Mario Gotze's transfer but insists his team will not be distracted against Real Madrid.

Midfielder Gotze was confirmed this morning as having agreed to a €37m transfer to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich for the summer.

Dortmund’s Coach used today’s Press conference ahead of their Champions League semi-final first leg against Real Madrid to confirm that former Barcelona and future Bayern boss Guardiola was behind the move.

“I knew about it the day after the Malaga second leg. So I had 24 hours to be happy about that result,” reflected Klopp to reporters today.

“Nobody needs to worry about our focus. If anything, it is sharper than ever.

“Gotze was a player Guardiola wished to sign. He knows he owes a lot to the club, but I know he gave a lot back as well.

“He told me that Pep called him and convinced him to play tiki-taka. If it is anyone’s fault it is mine.

“I cannot shorten myself by 15cm and speak Spanish. Gotze wanted to work with an extraordinary Coach. I cannot teach the ways of fast transitions and tiki-taka.”

News of the move has deflected attention away from Dortmund’s challenge against Madrid this Wednesday, but Klopp asserted that his players will not be distracted.

“It would have been worse to find out hours before the game. Although, on a scale of one to 10, I put this as a nine in terms of the worst time to announce it.

“If they wish for us to lose our attention before the game tomorrow then they will not succeed.

“I ask the fans to put aside their disappointment and encourage us more than ever. This is a time to show that we are a special club.

“I just want to ask for support for the match against Real Madrid.

“I will not say how we will play against Madrid. They can play with possession, not only on the counter-attack. Against Manchester United [in the Last 16] they had 60 per cent possession.”

Dortmund fans must be shattered and fuming.
I read that they won't play him tonight. The fans will be all over him if he plays.
