If John Barnes is successful at Tranmere and goes on to manage a premiership club. Would you mind having him manage Liverpool?

I just think he has a great football philosophy, we'd probably have a creative passing game that is beautiful to watch, reminiscent of our glory days.

Imagine a scenario that Rafa leaves after winning the title for the third time in a row to join Real Madrid. The club appoints John Barnes as manager, Alan Hansen and Sammy Lee as his assistants.

If Barnes ends up as an amazingly good manager then yes obviously. I can't really see it though.

Alan Hansen will never go into football management at all though I wouldn't have thought.

Hansen's knocked back numerous offers to become involved at high profiled clubs in the past. It could be a different answer if we came calling, but he's not getting any younger and seems perfectly happy being a pundit on the MOTD sofa.

However well Barnes does, I doubt he'll be ready to replace Rafa in 5 or so years.

Yeah I know, but if it was between him and Thompson I'd pick Hansen. He'd be responsible for the defence.

Sorry but right now I cant see anybody but Rafa here as manager....but I do think we'll see Cara or Stevie as manager here within the next 15 years......plus I think that Rafa wil have both of them do their uefa badges while he's still here. Reckon Stevie G will be a great coach (our coach) ;D ;D

Despite the fact that Hansen has no experience in coaching where Thompson has considerable and also had a great record whilst in temporary charge of us?

Personally I like Thompson but I can see why some don't. His methods don't always seem to have gone down so well with all players.

Hansen clearly likes what he is doing now, and considering how long he has been on TV criticising others (generally correctly mind) it would be brave of him to suddenly step into the spotlight and be open to that kind of criticism himself

The reason I want Hansen as a coach or assistant is that he's shown on Motd that he understands modern football, and he still knows how a defensive line should be organized.
He's quite level-headed and calm unlike Thompson. I think Hansen is smarter and doesn't go on guts and feelings as much.

All true, but you're wasting your time. Hansen's got the life he wants now, and is far too intelligent to get involved in the bearpit that is football management today.
