According to Liverpool.no, Werner and Henry will be coming over this week, maybe as early as tomorrows game against Blackpool. But definetly against Everton.
The sources they've talked to at the club says that there will be big announcements this week, but didn't specify what kind. Could be a new CEO, transfers etc.

Exciting times a head me thinks.

Wasn't the new CEO to be revealed on January 12th?
Probably that.

not so excited smiley

Let the good news keep coming in!

Now for a win or two to compliment the feel good factor and gain some momentum.

Ian Ayre said at the press conference that there isn't a transfer budget. Does that mean that if Comolli and Kenny identifies a player that can improve us the funds are there regardless, if FSG concur? That would be ace if true.

Or else we have no money ?

If sensible additions are possible I'd imagine they'll work a way of putting a deal together. That said I don't think Henry ever turns up to unveil players with the Red Sox (I am open to correction on this), I didn't see him in any pictures of the Gonzalez or Crawford unveilings recently.

The CEO appointment is probably more likely.

I don't really get why everyone thinks either that there's no money at all OR that there might be loads to spend. Surely the point FSG made when they bought us was that our transfer (and wages) budget would depend entirely on our income as a club. Given that we're no longer servicing debts, I presume that leaves us with more or less our 'usual' annual transfer spend of about £20m, plus whatever we make in player sales.

That would be my bet too. I'd add only that I wouldn't expect a big spend this month even if we had lots more to play with. You don't tend to get good value in January and NESV will be aware of that.

What was our net spend during the summer ?

I think we'll have less than the "usual" budget. Our loss in our last financial year was 52m, 40m of which was interest. Our wage bill has increased by almost another 20m since then. The new sponsorship deals only really make up for the money we lost from not qualifying for the CL. So unless there's something less obvious making us a lot more money I don't see where any significant spend is coming from right now.

I wonder if they'll announce Ian Ayre as chief executive.

Why do you think it's him?

No reason really. He's a local lad, well qualified for the job and a life long Liverpool supporter. He also did the press conference welcoming Kenny.

Its not Ian Ayre, why retain a headhunter when the ideal candidate is already working for you

You got me on ignore as well? 🙁

I don't mean SCM, I mean this norweigan site which is often quoted with 'scoops'. Has it ever actually been a) correct, b) ahead of the rest?

Hmm this "norwegian site" is very often correct but tends not to be ahead of the rest... This Norwegian site is just a modern copy of the original Scandinavian Branch of LFC supporter club. The founders have done extremely well to keep a neutral tone when needed as well as advisng their 40.000 members on whats going on. The founder started back in 1981 copying english newspaper pages and sending out to me and other members... He actualy personally was given a scarf from Bob Paisley which noone has outside the very inner circle from the 80s. They also had Phil Neal as their first President, but released him when he went to Bolton. Since then they had Molby and others as president. They do a terrific job, and I party quite l lot with them or "US" even now.... We are strong and we are good. And every summer The reds legends are over here for quite a while!
