Please dont let this be true

Simao's pretty useful, creative and able to score a few, he's better than Riera and Maxi. But he's 30, considering how strapped we are, £8million for a thirty year old is probably more than we want to pay right now, especially for a player like him, it might well to too late in his career for him to adapt to the PL.

Anyway, we're not gonna be signing him.

Atletico Madrid winger Simao Sabrosa has admitted his interest in playing in the Premier League amid reports Liverpool are planning an £8million bid.

The Portugal international has one year left on his contract in Spain and has been linked with a move to Anfield for many years.

Rafa Benitez is understood to be a fan and is in the market for a left winger, while Simao did his reputation no harm when starring in Atletico's Europa League semi-final victory over the Reds.

Liverpool could therefore make a move this summer and the 30-year-old has indicated that he is attracted by the prospect of switching to England.

Simao is quoted as saying in the Daily Star: "Nobody has spoken with me in the last days about this subject.

"I only say that some people in Madrid have suggested that Atletico are preparing my sale, but I don't know too much.

"I have always been interested in playing in the Premier League, but my head is in the World Cup and I have a deal with Atletico."

No Higuain either eh?...

Real Madrid have quashed Manchester City's hopes of signing Gonzalo Higuain this summer by confirming he is not for sale.

The Argentina international had been linked with a big-money move to Eastlands as Roberto Mancini looks to refine his star-studded squad.

There were even reports on Thursday evening that City were in talks with Real over Higuain'ssigning along with Fernando Gago.
However, Real's sporting director Jorge Valdano has poured cold water on the speculation, stating Higuain is not leaving Santiago Bernabeu.

Contracted

"He is under contract for three more years and has been a key man this season, he is not transferable," Valdano told Marca.

With the arrival of Jose Mourinho apparently imminent following the sacking of Manuel Pellegrini, attention is already turning to who the 'Special One' might want to bring in this summer.

Valdano admits it is unlikely to be a striker, adding: "We do not need more forwards, we scored 102 goals this season and Benzema didn't play much.

"Next season Karim is like a new signing."

1040 BST: Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is hoping to lure Bolton Wanderers centre-back Gary Cahill to Anfield this summer to bolster his defence.

A transfer window just wouldn't be a transfer window without us being linked to, Van de Vaart, Simao and at least half a dozen centre backs.

& some youth goalkeepers.

Sadly those aren't just links...

I think this will be the first summer where owen isn't linked. thank fuck.
[/quote]

First time in many years nobody bother to start a thread like "should we re-sign owen".

What a relief.

According to the Saturday gossip the daily mail say we've only a £5 million kitty to spend

Simao for 8 million to some other club. That could be our entire budget depending on who you believe. I wonder what Tom's definition of substantial is?

Considering Citeh's dealings in the market, we could get a few useful Premiership players from them. Ireland, Bellamy and Petrov will do nicely.

I wouldn't mind taking a punt of Walcott!

I would.

Squiggles you can mind all you want, I don't give a flying fuck!

H, Bellamy and Crouch would actually strengthen us. As for Warnock, he is certainly better than Insua.
