[article]According to a report written by French language newspaper Le Soir as part of the Football Leaks series, French captain and Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris receives a €4000 bonus whenever he registers a loss with the North London side…
The report reads as follows:
“In the case of a defeat, he earns a bonus of €4000. As in many contracts, bonuses are intended for the French national team goalkeeper with his London club Tottenham.
With each victory, Hugo Lloris earns more than €8000. But if Tottenham lose, he still earns a bonus: around €4000. What a way to soften the blow.”
In this case, the Belgian newspaper’s reporting appears vague and it is important to stress that they have not attached a copy of the relevant contract which would definitively prove this statement.
The way in which they have phrased the snippet on Hugo Lloris suggests potentially that they have simply taken an appearance bonus and made it appear as if it is some form of losing bonus.
Appearance bonuses are extremely common in all football contracts. If it however is specifically a bonus in the event that Tottenham lose, it is certainly not a bad way to end a day when your side has taken 0 points away from a match…[/article]
[article]French language newspaper Le Soir persist this morning that Tottenham Hotspur defender
Toby Alderweireld has a €30m release clause in his current contract with the North London side, despite
Spurs’ furious denials made yesterday when the news first came to light. This report comes as part of the Football Leaks series.
The Belgian outlet claim that Alderweireld
earns €3.1m a year, with various clauses attached to his contract including:
€310,000 if the club qualifies for the Champions League and if he plays 30 or more matches.
€6,000 appearance bonus.
Tottenham Hotspur also
pay Alderweireld €560,000 in image rights to a company set up by the Belgian international. The report does not stipulate whether this is a one off payment or a yearly one.
A 30 million release clause, but the report fails to explain which currency that 30 million is in, Euros or English pounds.
The validity of the latter claim can certainly therefore be questioned, owing the vague nature in which Le Soir present it and the fact that they do not offer any idea as to which currency they are talking about.[/article]

[article]Eden
Hazard received a €2.4m bonus following his obtention of the 2015 Premier League Player of the Year Award, according to French language paper Le Soir as part of a report from the Football Leaks series.
The newspaper’s write-up reads as follows:
“The first contract of Eden Hazard at Chelsea tells us little. Firstly because it dates from 2012 and has since been extended. Next because it is less detailed. We discover however that
the transfer fee between Lille and Chelsea is not €40m and is instead €35m. Aside from that, it also details the star’s gross salary at Chelsea for the first years (4.71 million Euros for the first season and 5 million Euros for the second). But this salary does not represent the reality because Hazard had extended his contract by three years in February 2015 (doubling, according to certain outlets, his salary, going from €5m to €12.4m).”
“However,
his first contract indicates that there was only one clause that enabled him to win a bonus and that it was quite well chosen because it stipulates that: “if he is chosen as player of the year, he will earn a bonus of €2.4m,” a title that he obtained in 2015!”
To summarise, Le Soir only appear to have obtained Eden Hazard’s first Chelsea contract but some interesting alleged observations can be made:
Lille received €35m and not €40m as a transfer fee from Chelsea.
Eden Hazard received a €2.4m bonus for becoming Player of the Year in 2015, which was incidentally the only bonus in his first Chelsea contract.[/article]
[article]In a report as part of the Football Leaks series, French language newspaper Le Soir have revealed details about former PSG attacking midfielder Ezequiel Lavezzi’s contract at Hebei China Fortune.
At the time of the Argentinian’s transfer, it was suggested that he would earn somewhere between €8m and €15m. In reality according to the report, Lavezzi earns $56m over a 23 month period, $2.5m a month.
This alleged information would make Lavezzi one of the top five best paid players in the world.[/article]
[article]Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva was built up to be the next big thing, but his heart condition and poor season on loan at Olympique de Marseille in the previous campaign appear set to disturb that.
Real Madrid were not taking any chances when he signed terms with them initially however in 2015, according to a report in Le Soir as part of the Football Leaks series.
Los Blancos ensured that a €500m release clause was inserted into Silva’s contract. When he was sent on loan to Ligue 1 side Marseille, there was an exclusive buy-out clause included in the deal worth €60m…
The elevated clauses aside, the player is currently battling a heart condition and we hope that he will beat it and that he will be back on European football’s pitches again soon.[/article]
[article]As part of the Football Leaks series, information concerning several players’ contracts has been released today in French language paper Le Soir.
One of the contracts concerns Nigerian footballer Larry Kayode, whose deal with Austria Wien raises eyebrows with regards specifically to punishments for drunkenness.
The contract reads as follows:
“The players are allowed to go out on the evening of matches and on the following day, without limitation. When the game is during the week, you are not permitted to return home later than 03:00… Smoking is banned but only for communal team public events, and on the bus.”
Don’t think it can get weirder? Wrong. Here are some of the more whacky fines that Mr Kayode can rack up:
€1,000 – leaving the substitutes bench before the end of the match without authorisation.
€100 – using your mobile phone on the bus.
€500 – a yellow card for poor behaviour.
€500 plus €100 every five minutes – being late for training.
30% salary cut – being drunk in public or turning up to training drunk.[/article]
