Fighting in ice hockey

Ice Hockey is a very fast paced and violent game, more so than any other major sport I can think of (excluding actual fighting sports). It's all about momentum, and the fights are huge momentum changers. Due to it's nature there will always be fights in hockey, and so there should be, there controlled so there's no real injury and there great to watch and have a huge effect on the game.

Fighting in Ice hockey might seem traditional until someone gets killed. Fights in Swedish hockey is prohibited and players who fight get suspended and in some cases fined.

Not saying it could never happen but there have been fights in hockey for decades without a fatality and with surprisingly few major injuries.

(For the record, I'm not necessarily arguing that fighting needs to be in the game, I just don't see a need to remove it.)

Because they don't fight properly. It's just a pathetic attempt to "gain momentum" or whatever, and a waste of roster space.

Players have in some cases been severely injured. I mean picture slipping and hitting your head on the ice. Cracked skull.

I don't agree with having players on the roster strictly as enforcers but I have no problems with players who can actually play getting involved in scrums.

Modo: Again, injuries do happen, but they're relatively rare, all things considered. Shoulder-to-head hits cause far more injuries and, rightfully, are the major hot-topic issue as of late.

Larry: If all you watched were Liverpool games, you'd have the same opinion of football.

Fighting in Ice Hockey is permitted as, without it, people would realise that its incredibly shit.

It's not.

Have you ever played yourself? It's one of the greatest sports.
