Essentially, NBC won the rights for every premiere league game. If they don't sell on some of the games, this is going to save me a pretty penny, and while the shine is off broadcast TV, it's pretty remarkable still that every game will be on one of the major networks.

The other element to this, is doesn't this mean that Fox Soccer Channel is pretty much fucked? I have to pay those assholes 15$ extra a month for FSP on top of getting whatever ludicrous package includes the regular FSC, and that's by far the main draw for them.

Farky, are you in the US? Yes unlike Fox or Espn or Setanta, I don't see NBC subleasing these rights to other parties. I really thought be In sport were gonna get the rights. FSC still has MLS, and US games but not much else. GolTV is in a Similar situation having lost La liga and Serie A.

What i don't get is this whole idea of breaking up the packages in the interest of competition and giving the customer a fairer price . Sky , setanta or whoever don't drop their prices , they still charge the same no matter what they lose so it costs more now to watch the same amount of games that you could before for a lower price .

But competition automatically makes it cheaper, ask any tory!

Yep but I think this is going to run in NBC Sports Network which might be. . . (wait for it. . .) $15 a month.

There was an EU ruling which meant that packages in the UK had to be split.

yeah i remember ...that's who i'm blaming . They fiddled with it to create more (and cheaper) options for the consumer without realising that it now meant fans would have to pay more to different providers to get the same amount of games .

And why does this only seem to apply to the UK and Ireland ? In Germany every single bundesliga game is shown Live on German Sky for about half the price .
I'd also like to point out here that despite every game being shown live on TV , the bundesliga has the highest average attendence in European Football so that shoots down the stupid argument that people won't go to games anymore because they're on TV . People won't go because it's too fucking expensive and you're having the piss taken out of you by your own club ( you can still get lots of tickets to a bundesliga game for under 15 pounds) .
