Interesting proposal in the news today about extending hours of school to 6pm and reducing summer holidays.
I suppose they were originally based in 19th century on kids working after school and in the fields during the summer breaks
My only concern would be what they do with the extra time. If it's an hours sport a day, a music lesson, Some basic craft or home economics then great. Cooking, mechanics etc
As long as this benefits the kids and not just free child care for working mums then I'm for it. Some Mums spend too little time with their kids already. FFS the crèche next to my office takes kids from 12 weeks old from 8am-6pm. Why have a kid ?
Apparently in France they do 8-5pm with sports and music everyday. Two hour lunch break as well.
