What's it going to be............

A gradual change of the first team over the next three or four seasons or something much more radical with two/three first teamers brought in during the January window and an extra few again during next summer clearing out a lot of the also rans in our team and squad.

From the piece below I would say Carra is a tad worried about his spot and there should be four or five other regular starters more worried than him

http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/1757/8/exclusive-carragher-i-fear-anfield-player-clear-out

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher fears the club's new owners will stage a mass clear-out at Anfield if their fortunes fail to improve.
Carragher claims that in their year of turmoil everything has changed – except the playing staff.
Getting rid of former boss Rafa Benitez has failed to lift the club, who languish in the bottom three following their loss to Blackpool on October 3.
And with new owners set to take over after the High Court blocked Tom Hicks and George Gillett's attempts to keep control at the club, Carragher has warned there may be big changes ahead.
He told Drive Time: “We have changed the manager, we have changed the board and if things don't change now then the players will go too.
“Everything else has changed, it is just the players who have stayed the same.â€

Carragher added the High Court victory has come at a perfect time, ahead of this weekend's Merseyside derby at Goddison Park.
He said: “I hope we can look forward now. I don't think the protests have affected things too much, because the protests and marches were usually before or after games.
“The atmosphere has not been great at Anfield recently because the performances have not been that great.
“But a lot of supporters will be delighted with the outcome today. I am sure that will give us a feel-good factor and we hope that will help us.â€
Carragher insists there is still time for Liverpool to improve on their dismal start and said: “There have been disappointing starts for both sides [Everton and Liverpool].
"Both of us would have looked to be near the top before the season started.
“Both sides would have hoped to be challenging for the top four. But it is still early and maybe three points this weekend will give us the springboard we need.€

Gotta be a revolution.

Get a new (young) manager with fresh ideas and clear out all the shite.

[/quote]

yep.

total revolution.

if the money's there.

which it wont be.

oh.

evolution then.

We need to get back in the CL as quickly as possible, as much for the new owners' finances as for supporters' feelings, so I think there'll have to be a kind of mini-revolution to begin with. We're not Man City two years ago: we don't need 15 new first-teamers. But our squad is noticeably poorer than those of our main rivals, so some (judicious) spending (and selling) is definitely needed.

Starting with a new manager, obv.

We need:

- A CB who is strong in the air.
- A LB.
- 2X CM
- 2 X wingers
- 2X strikers

It may look a bit drastic, but I don't think it is. If anything it's testament to how our squad has declined in recent years. It's certainly revolution over evolution.

We need to start playing the kind of football that wins thropies. To do that, we need to appoint a manager who understands that, and has the football intelligence to build a team/squad that can compete with the best.

We have been crying out for pacey wingers for several years now, and must get that sorted. We need to get more pace into our side. And of course more quality. Doesn't have to be superstars, but young hungry players that can fit into our tactics and philosopy. The current manager hasn't got a clue how to do this, so we basically need to start there. A new manager.

It has to be a mini revulotion. We have to many players that aren't good enough. They must leave, and we need at least 4 players in january.

The biggest decision is getting the right manager. That is alfa omega. NESV better start working on that right now.

i wonder if NESV will have the pull to get mourinho in? he still looks like the only really compelling candidate as manager to me, all the others are either a bit risky or don't seem much better than benitez. i guess it might depend on whether he wants to stay a real madrid for 1 or 2 years.

i think there's a chance we'll get him in the summer. how's he getting on at madrid?

Bit of both really. We need a manager who's not scared to put young players in if first teamers aren't doing their job. I know we've seen youngsters get chances fleetingly, but it's usually been through necessity with players being unavailable because of injury/suspension (or in low priority games).

Someone young preferably, with fresh ideas and a will to go for the win rather than playing a cagey game. It's not fucking chess.

That would never happen this season Peter.

Not this season but I think in the longterm he'd fancy a challenge, it's certainly got to be a more appealing proposition for someone who likes a fight, rather than just doing a stella job at wealthy clubs with money to burn. There's plenty about our heritage and desire to get back to the top that would be appealing to a manager worth his salt.

Wasnt there mention NESV had lined up Klinsmann?

Not sure I'd be happy with that but if he could bring Thomas Muller with him, I'd be slightly more accomodating

It's definitely interesting, though I wonder about his credentials as a manager and a tactician, he seems to have a good ideas when it comes to building for the future and eyeing young talent.

sorry i meant at end of season at earliest, ie will he stay for one OR two years, as inevitably he'll get sacked or itchy feet sooner or later.

He started what Joachim Low carried on with Germany, although there was talk that Low was the brains behind the operation. Whether thats true or not, I dont know.

However, I'm not convinced Roy has got the respect of the players. I think its essential we get someone in who surpasses any player-power like Fergie, Mourinho, Wenger and Ancelotti have established.

Yeh he'll want a new challenge and/or Real Madrid will sack him even if he won a clean sweep. They're a bit weird like that. We really do need something major to happen this year though. We need to start fucking off this "prevent defeat" approach and take more direct "let's fucking go for it" approach - especially against the teams we should easily be beating. i.e. Blackpool

Fresh ideas, yes. Young manager, I'm not so sure. If we had been stuck in the lower reaches of the league for a year or two then fair enough, but we haven't and I'm confident we won't, so I'd still prefer an experienced manager provided he's big enough to handle the job. It's that rather than age which has dragged Roy down IMO. A big fat "NO Thanks" to Klinsmann at any time BTW - did well with Germany but then promptly fell flat on his face with Bayern.

A proper search needs to be done, the outcome to coincide if possible with the end of the Spanish season so we can see how Mourinho's placed at that stage. 8) Until then, do what should have been done in the first place and get Kenny in to rally the troops.

Ideally we'd get the next Mourinho, rather than this one, who would undoubtedly cost a fortune. But does anyone know who the next Mourinho is, or does he even exist?

I think we may as well start strategizing for the future. Carragher is on his way out, Gerrard hasn't got long left at his peak and Torres can't be counted on for a season (if at all as he still might want to leave).

As much as I hate to say and as much as everyone will hate to hear it, we need a five year plan. In the short-term that will probably mean evolution with the revolution hopefully taken place over the next couple years.

How DARE you suggest a thing sir ! Why, the sheer bloody affrontery of suggesting anything other than overnight success is required ! We will settle this at dawn !

*removes glove, slaps Keni*

*Kenny drops the nut back on Sheiky*

*Sheiky picks himself up off the floor and thinks: "Sh!t, I meant keni"*

We can't bring in players until January

I'm sure our legal team could sort something out.
