FA chairman Greg Dyke speaking to Sky Sports News

Roy Hodgson is to remain as England manager after receiving the backing of Football Association chairman Greg Dyke.

Dyke told Sky Sports News that Hodgson has the full support of the FA and will remain in charge of the national team, despite England losing their opening two matches at the World Cup.

Defeat at the hands of Italy and Uruguay has left the country's chances of reaching the knockout stages in Brazil hanging by a thread.

But the FA's full backing means Hodgson will remain in charge through to the 2016 European Championship finals in France.

Dyke said: “Everyone is disappointed but we are supportive of Roy. He came to do a four-year cycle and we want him to stay and continue.

“We think there are positives, despite losing narrowly to sides in the top eight (of the FIFA ranking).
“We don’t see any value in changing Roy. We think Roy has done a good job.

“We have young players who we’ve blooded by experiencing tournament football and it’s my view, as well as others in the FA, that he remains manager.”

And he refused to blame the multi-national nature of the Premier League as being a contributory factor into England’s poor results at the World Cup.

Dyke added: “There are not as many English players playing in the Premier League – or even the Championship – as there used to be.

“The choice is less but that’s what we’ve got to go from and I don’t think that’s the cause for what happened here.

“We’ve had narrow defeats, we haven’t been humiliated, but it’s for the football people and not me to identify why we didn’t win.”

Woy has used his jedi mind tricks of lowering expectations to masterful effect with the FA.

“We’ve had narrow defeats, we haven’t been humiliated, but it’s for the football people and not me to identify why we didn’t win.”

Ray Wilkins was on TV before saying Hodgson has done a terrific job.

English football is doomed.

I honestly wonder planet a lot of these people are on, we all make bad judgements on football, it happens but what the fuck is it with Hodgson that has hypnotized so many people into thinking and talking absolute shite?

Take a look at Alan Shearers comments in the Hodgson cunt thread, Alan Shearer!, one of the best strikers this country has produced and yet hes generally clueless when talking about football, if hes not pointing out the obvious or spouting some cliche its coming out with aids like "there is no better manager out there than Hodgson and they wouldn't have done anything different anyway"

There was a post on a BBC thread about England earlier that said "Roy is a very good manager and he is tactically astute" it had 32 up votes and was amongst the highest rated posts.

It can make you question yourself when you have a minority opinion, not this time though!, what is going on? England have just got knocked out of the WC in 2 games and Roys done a good/very good even terrific job? he should stay on? ..fucking hell! lol.

Its insane. He's got loads of exciting attacking players he's using wrong. Sets up a system that hinders rather than gets the best out of the players available.

Dinosaur approach, average to the t and the completly wrong man for the job.

England will probably qualify for the Euros and then fuck it up again. Wasting another 2 years of development and money on that owl faced moron.

Would Costa Rica have qualified from the group with Hodgson in charge? like hell.

England would have had a better chance of a top 2 place with the Costa Rica coach though, that is clear.

Costa Rica look like a very well coached side. They almost certainly qualifed from this group now with players whose market value is a fracrion of the value of the other teams in the group, and many of whom play their football in the Scandinavian leagues.
Well done to them.

But, but, but, you can't coach a national side to play well together cos there's not enough time.

According to the British press...

The hypocrisy in the English media and FA stinks to high heaven. He'd be deported if he was a foreign manager. If I cared about England I'd have gone on a killing frenzy by now.
