Cracking first 11 but a bit cunt after that.
With that in mind, who's your 23 to get on the plane to Africa?

Id take.
James
Green
Bridge
Cole
Johnson
Brown
Terry
Ferdinand
King
Upson
Hargreaves (if fit)
Barry
Lampard
Gerrard
Beckham
Lennon
Young
Cole
Rooney
Crouch
Agbonlahor
Defoe
Walcott

The four casualties being Lescott, Swp, Heskey and Bent.
I think King is a much better than Lescott and being as its only going to be in emergency he should be fine, also Brown could cover.
I also think theres a place for just one of Lennon and swp and Lennon is better.
And Bent is too slow. And heskey too shite.

Don't disagree with much there.

Although you've forgotten Milner completely, who should definitely be on the plane. And Jenas or Carrick over Hargreeves, too, because there's not a chance he'll be ready.

Of course that wasn't the first 11 that played today, but just in general, its the lack of flare/creativity in the midfield area that prevents the attack from becoming promising. Players like xavi/iniesta/fabreagas know how to play the short/longer passes, and can spot movement in and around the midfield/attacking wide areas. They see passes that other players don't see.

It's actually infuriating to see them play, capello/mourinho/wenger won't be able to change that either as this is a very natural thing, you either have it or don't..what a shame.

Don't we need a 3rd GK?
I dont think theres a rule. Id just take 2 personally.

I'm not sure we should be taking Agbonlahor and Walcott as well as Defoe. There's not much variety there if we need a change of plan. I'd sooner see Carlton Cole in there. (I'm assuming the other Cole you've put in is Joe Cole who should definitely be in the squad as far as I'm concerned.)

Fair enough.

I thought it was a rule.

Yeah, I'd take Carlton Cole as well. Carrick ahead of Hargreaves and Milner ahead of Young.

I have been saying we have been similar for ages fella, no left winger for years, too many long balls, always try to hang on to a slender lead.

the striker are the main talking point.

I would take, defoe, rooney, crouch and agbonalahor.

Fabio will swap heskey for Gabriel

SWP to miss out as well

You are 100% right about nothing beyond the first 11. I'd say 22 are ceerts and the only question is who we take as left sided back-up to Joe Cole

James, Green

Bridge, A. Cole
Terry, Ferdinand, King, Upson
Johnson, Brown

Hargreaves, Barry
Lampard, Gerrard
Beckham, Lennon
J. Cole, [Milner, SWP, Walcott]

Rooney, Heskey, Agbonlahor, Defoe

*thinks out loud*

I THOUGHT WE WERE LIKE NEWCASTLE?
I laughted !

england should just play 433 and be done with it.

cole and johnson are as good a pair of attacking fullbacks as most.

james

johnson ferdinand terry cole

barry lampard gerrard in the middle

lennon rooney agbonlahor/j cole up front.

strength in depth exists all across the team this way. shame we ain't got the balls to play this so will likely be a 1/4 final team at best.

Not sure about Carrick. I suppose he has more experience than the other alternatives.

As for Carlton Cole, I'd be pleasantly surprised if Capello took him. He can do everything Heskey can plus he scores goals. It's a no-brainer from where I'm sitting. I think he'll take Heskey though, which depresses me to be honest.

Id take.
GK James
GK Green
LB Bridge
LB Cole
RB Johnson
RB Richards
CB Terry
CB Ferdinand
CB Taylor (newcastle)
CB Upson
MD Barry
MD Lampard
MD Gerrard
MD Beckham
MD Lennon
MD Young
MD SWP
ST Rooney
ST Crouch
ST Agbonlahor
ST Defoe
ST Bent
ST C.Cole

Not sure about Bridge.

He's been fucking awful for City.

England must have a better LB.

Lescott? :🙂

Omitting Heskey from your England side/squad, is like leaving Kuyt out of a Liverpool side or squad;

Fucking pointless.

I hate watching Crouch play football so i don't want him there. Ive gone without Bridge as Lescott can fill in at left back if need be to account for an extra striker which is Owen. Agbonlahor is in as a striker but also emergency right winger if Lennon/Walcott gets injured and we need a pacy outlet on the right. I don't think we need to take both Lennon and Walcott for this reason and im not a fan of Wright-Phillips on the left so Young is preferred to him for me.

think you and mouse are forgetting Lennon, no way he is being left out. He has been Englands best RW for this season no doubt.

SWP will not go

Possibly, I'm not really arsed which tricky winger goes.

Neither are brilliant.

Pick whoever's in better form at the time.
