Just got a circular mail for a band called The British Pink Floyd - which makes them distinct not from the original Pink Floyd (who were of course British) but from the tribute band, The Australian Pink Floyd, who now charge 30 odd quid to fill stadiums playing other people's tunes the world over.
I've even been to see the Australian version... twice... and they are good if you like that kind of thing, but the flyer for this British Pink Floyd is for stadium gigs next July.
What the fuck? A band that has never performed, is just a tribute act, is selling tickets for massive concerts 10 months in advance. There's no links to who is in the band... The band may even be hypothetical at this point... and the tickets are from 20 to 40 quid.
Er?
