They had a fantastic opportunity to start the beginning of the end of diving, but no, that's a bit too much to ask isn't it. They obviously shit themselves at the thought of having to rule evenly and start banning all divers (rightly so) so decided to take the easy option out instead.

In fairness to Eduardo, you can't have it as a yellow card if its seen by the ref and then have it as a 2 game ban if its enforced retrospectively.
Just make diving a red card offence and then the punishments are the same whether they are caught in the game or afterwards.

Totally agree. If diving is a yellow card offence how can you get a 2 match suspension for it. It has to be one or the other

If they really want to do something about diving they will increase the penalty for it. I'm not going to hold my breath.
I didn't think it was a dive anayway. The keeper came rushing out, he went to ground and slid in hard at eduardo's legs. It's doesn't matter at all that he pulled out at the last minute. Up to the last possible second it looked as if he was going to commit the foul, and that unfairly affects the strikers movement as he has to jump out of what he believes is going to be a collision. You could view that as the goalkeeper simulating a foul to gain an advantage
If this was enforced Gerrard should be 'retrospectively' banned for a good 24 games.
I do believe that any attempt to deceive or influence the referee should be an instant red card but this could also be enforced afterwards with the help of video evidence. Football's just too stupid to see sense.

Can't they just say from now on every game will be reviewed and if they think it's a dive it's a one match ban?

That would be the best idea... in most other professional sports they use video tape and a tribunal to decide whether a player has committed a foul, regardless of whether the referee saw it or not.
Its time football started banning players even after the match has finished. We have the technology, just not the will it seems.
