No surpise there. The whole saga is a spit in the face for those families who fought unjustice all along, however they will win and the bastard will thereafter serve his punishment. It will be tough times ahead for those who will have all those nightmares ripped up again and I hope they come through it as good as possible.
I'm not so sure. The opinion is based on the things for which he's on trial and I'd have thought Fabs was right to raise the point, even if only to be on the safe side.

The place he publishes the opinion also counts. If you called him a cunt outside court there might be an argument of prejudice. If you called him a cunt on a Liverpool forum, there'd be the opposite argument that you actually cast him in a better light than he was seen in before you called him a cunt.
