I am extremely gutted.. I had this chap down to be the next Stevie Highway...

He could of made the wing his own....

*coughs*

Why did this joke start against Portsmouth? thank god hes gone so Rafa doesn't have the urge to bring him out the cold and start him for no reason ever again.

he'll do well in napoli - and he'll probably revive his career. No, this isn't b/c of Rafa or Liverpool or even Lucas, it's because he's suited Serie A.

Liverpool left-back Andrea Dossena has ended his unfruitful spell at Anfield by joining Serie A side Napoli in a deal worth a reported £4.25 million.

Dossena, 28, joined Liverpool from Udinese for £7 million in the summer of 2008 but started only 13 Premier League games in 18 months at the club as Rafael Benitez showed a preference for young Argentinean Emiliano Insua.

The highlight of his Liverpool career was a four-day spell in March 2009 during which Dossena scored in a 4-0 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League and then lobbed Edwin van der Sar as the Reds secured a stunning 4-1 win at Manchester United in the Premier League.

Not a bad fee at all - and thanks for those two goals ... That was a wonderful time for the team.

Shit player, shit scouting, shit signing.

Who's culpable?

His pre-season was enough for me to admit on this very site that I harboured grave doubts about Drossena, but *that* display at Anfield against Hull, where he made Bernard Mendy look like a cross between John Barnes and Christiano Ronaldo was one of the most tragically inept displays of defending I have ever seen

Fuck off and good riddance

But again; well done Rafa! You managed to buy a truly shit player and then sell him 18 months later for a 3m loss

Bravo!

Andrea Dossena has put an end to a miserable 18 months at Liverpool after completing his switch to Napoli on a four-year deal.

The Italian club have confirmed their acquisition - believed to be around £4million - on Friday after the player passed a medical before inking a deal which will keep him in the Campania region until 2014.

"I'm happy to wear the jersey of Napoli," Dossena, who could make his debut on Sunday at home to Sampdoria, told his new club's official website.

"I chose a prestigious club with an important project. I cannot wait to play in Sao Paolo stadium before an unbelievable crowd".

Dossena joined the Reds in the summer of 2008 in a reported £7million move from Serie A outfit Udinese and big things were expected about the Azzurri international left-back.

But the 28-year-old, brought in by Rafa Benitez as a direct replacement for fans' favourite John Arne Riise, failed to adapt to the vigorous nature of the Premier League and soon fell down the pecking order on Merseyside.

Fabio Aurelio fast became Liverpool's first choice left-back for the majority of last season and the emergence of young Argentine defender Emiliano Insua has seen the Italian's chances to impress at Anfield diminish further.

The former Verona and Treviso performer scored just one goal in 18 Premier League games in Liverpool's 4-1 win at Manchester United, and followed that with another strike in the 4-0 rout against Real Madrid in one of eight appearances in the UEFA Champions League for the Reds.

and to sweeten the deal, Voro is close to leaving

Andrea Dossena and Andriy Voronin could complete transfers away from Liverpool today, Rafa Benitez has confirmed.

An agreement has been reached with Napoli for Dossena, while Voronin is heading for Dynamo Moscow.

The Reds have also received offers for Ryan Babel.

Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv: "Napoli were talking to us about Dossena, they were very interested. It seems we have an agreement with them and also the player has an agreement with them.

"We are waiting for the paperwork but hopefully everything will be done today.

"He knew he wasn't playing too many games and he has the Wold Cup in the summer. He prefers to go to Italy to increase his chances.

"With Voronin we were talking with Dynamo Moscow and it's also very close. The player is talking with them and we're also just waiting for the paperwork.

"The weather conditions have made it impossible to progress with these things but I think it could be done within a few hours."

On reports that Birmingham have made an offer for Babel, Benitez added: "We have received some offers but the player was clear the other day when he told me he wants to stay.

"We have to wait. I was not telling him he could go, just that we were receiving offers because he's a good player. That's the situation at this moment.

"At this moment everyone knows Ryan has the potential and he can improve."

I really hope whoever gets the number 10 shirt after Voronin is worthy of it.

He's no 10er in my book.

If we aren't to buy a real no. 10 soon, players such as Pacheco and Saric would wear it with far more pride than Voronin I'm sure.

Dossena had barricaded himself into a bakery and Voronin was on tour with Status Quo.

Very good. 🙂

So, now that he'll be rubbish for Moscow, I think it's safe to say that Veronin is 'shocking' all over the world.

Actually, when watching CSKA play recently (Vs united, I think), the commentator kept repeating a word that I'd never heard before, nor understood. "Siska" this and "Siska" that.

At first, I thought it was a player, but looked at the team lists, and it wasn't... It was driving me mental.

Then I realised what he was doing and I immediately e-mailed ESPN and demanded that he be fired. He was prouncing C-S-K-A like they were a word.

Dear Lord...

Dossena in numbers.
8m quid.
26 years old.
