Dolberg On The Move

Kasper Dolberg, 20, are on Bayern Munich's radar according to Bild.

A reason for their interest should be because of striker Robert Lewandowski's recommendations. Not only would he appreciate if they could buy a young striker who could get time on the pitch in the later stages of matches, he also believes Dolberg would be the one to fit the bill.
As they faced each other in the same qualification group for the World Cup there's reason to believe the Munich-based Poland international got a bit more info on the youngster than usual, hence his interest, perhaps.

Struggling with form
Let's be honest, Dolberg has not had a great second season so far, where a lack of goals, a new manager, Huntelaar coming in and being played out of position haven't helped him.

He has however recently begun to show once again why he almost reached 25 total goals in his first season as a senior player, especially with his two well-taken goals in the Eredivisie derby no. 1, Feyenoord v Ajax, securing the win for the visitors.

The future
Having just recently turned 20 there's still a lot of things that could go wrong, and no-one can say for certain whether he'll actually be that +20 goals a season player early signs suggested. Even so this is an absolute no-brainer for us to get involved with.

When a very talented young player emerges he's either a) out of reach (because he's already with Barcelona, Madrid, Chelsea or City) or b) he's reachable because he's playing for a club beneath us in the big leagues or in a lesser league all together. The ones that are in the latter category are the ones we should chase no end.

Value
He won't be cheap either, but even at £30M-£40M he could potentially be a real bargain for us. Also, all it takes is one good season for him, at a better club than Ajax in one of the five big leagues and he'd probably be forever out of reach for us. FOREVER. Like Eriksen after he moved to Spurs.

Solanke
He'd perhaps steal some thunder from a player like Solanke, whom I find an interesting prospect as well, and that could potentially harm the young Englishman's progress but Dolberg is, without being disrespectful, a different gravy all together. Solanke scored 7 in 25 for Vitesse in the same season where Dolberg bagged 24 in 41 with Ajax. It's not completely comparable but it'll give you an indication.

Potential
I may be slightly biased here for several reasons, but from what I've seen, and I have seen a lot of him this past year, I think it's safe to say he's a rarity.
Not only does he score the easy goals, but he's more often than not also scoring the difficult ones, all without making a fuss. He seems somewhat comparable to Eriksen when it comes to mentality, the anti-Bendtner attitude if you like, letting the feet talk more than anything else.

In Klopp's hands this lad could become a world class striker really and he wouldn't have to wait one or two seasons to make an impact either.. he is ready.

GOALS
All of his 29 goals for Ajax:

Some cracking finishes in there, and i really liked the last goal.

We would learn more from the misses but it's evident he's got a cannon of a right foot and can score in a variety of ways.

Why did noone bite over the summer?
Same could be said of Eriksen a couple of seasons ago, and nobody batted an eyelid over Suarez before we got him for 24m.
I think with 20 year olds it’s especially a risk and the big clubs are willing to wait for him to make a step up to another team before buying him in his prime, should he succeed, when he’s in his mid twenties.

I don't know. There were strong rumours suggesting that Monaco bid around £30M but it was being rejected by Ajax.

Most of last season Dolberg spoke about continuity and that he wanted to stay with Ajax for at least one more season, learning the trade etc. Then their manager left (to Dortmund) and a handful of their better players too. I think he's less interested committing to them at this stage why I believe he'll move on come Summer if not before.

Yeah maybe, but Kane is still only 24 and imagine buying him now.. not saying Dolberg reaches his standards, but what if..

It's always a risk of course, buying truly expensive youngsters, but you'll have to take a leap from time to time if you want to go places. Dolberg could well be worth the risk, that's all I'm saying.

You sold him to me months ago .. totally agree with everything you say, based purely on your passion and determination as well as the odd Youtube vid.

x2

I mean, he's going to be average but better an average Dane at Liverpool than Christian Poulsen being the last Danish memory at our club.

I think price, based on what Sanchez went for. They must have been quoting 60-70m for Dolberg.

What? Really? How?

He plays for fucking Ajax in Holland. That's no guarantee of quality and certainly doesn't ever indicate a price tag like that

Their captain, four-time title winner and Dutch footballer of the year Davey Klaasen, was sold for just over 20m to fucking Everton.

And he's shite

Everyone has gone insane when it comes to valuation of players..

Klaasen was never good enough for us mind you, no matter how many titles he won in Holland. Too lightweight and often invisible for longer spells in matches and never a player to elevate a team.

Davinson Sanchez however has looked pretty amazing so far for Spurs.. dammit.

Dolberg was invisible for that entire final, the one that everyone on this site sat through because of you.

So you are saying that it was because of me, the posters on here decided to watch an European Cup Final?

Well done me..

I am. Without your intervention, most would have written it off as the foregone conclusion it was and saved themselves the pain of witnessing it.

My apologies then.

Dolberg was invisible throughout.

United were set up to close him completely down as Mourinho knew that without Dolberg they prob wouldn't posses much of a threat. He was right and they won.

Hardly the first 19-year-old to endure a bad game especially not when the opposition were mainly set up to keep him quiet though?
