Do we need more Scousers in the team?

Bar Suarez, Torres, Mascherano and Xabi... All who eventually left.
Are the present foreign lot worth the redshirt?
Forget about the Hendos and llamas, they make our home country quota
The redblood is getting thinner and thinner.
Should we build a new backbone of Scousers... And ahem, vikings and whoever else that fights like a scouse?
Has the foreign experiment failed? 6th AND THEN 8th in the league. Yawns.
Houllier and Rafa all won us European cups, but where did the money go?
Carroll, suarez(we sold on), Sterling(we sold on), torres (sold on), bentekkers
Isnt it lame? The agents are richer with every season, and we're no better
I had us pegged for 5-7 this season, and yet we are worse.
Bring back Spearing.
Reshape the grassroots, reach out further to the kids?
A bad idea?

How do we stop this slide?
The league is what we want, forget the euro cups. The moneymen will push us to get in automatically.

Not really.

But a few player with Flanagans mentality and impact could help matters.

He's not the greatest by any stretch but you can't underestimate the value of having someone who can lift the crowd/ teammates with a tackle. Things like that can change the momentum in a game when you're under the cosh. We had nobody capable of doing it last night.

Thats not uniquely Scouse thing but seems more often present in Scousers.

I reckon it's a bit shit when there aren't any scousers in the side. But there weren't any in the mid eighties when we were fucking boss, so no correlation with success.

We need to get Suarez back even if he would cost a fortune. We need that type of player. A player that is a 100% winner and get every player in the dressing room believe the same. Klopp can't do it all himself.

We need more quality, more leaders, more players with heart. Too many bottlers out there last night and our best player was a 35 year old defender. Don't give a fuck where they come from.

Like signing Messi.

Why don't you talk about that in every thread too ?

It is not like signing Messi. Barcelona don't earn a lot of money on Suarez off the pitch. They probably earn £100m+ a season on Messi off the pitch.

NO! and no to british players altogether.

we need more germans and some south american...the ones who play proper football.

Even though the 80's team is often sited as having no scousers, it was full of players with the right blend of passion, grit and quality. At the time Liverpool was the team to play for, and you didn't play for us unless you would work your arse off first and foremost, it's why Rushie is often used as the prime example of defending from the front. To achieve all that you need players with the right mentality for it, players who understand the club, understand the requirements of the league. It's why Arsenal falter frequently, because come the cold weather, come shitty games at grounds where the turf is torn up to shreds and they're playing against players who will kick fuck out of them, they don't want to know. Despite their technical quality.

The German league is a good place to start, but even Ozil (via Madrid) came here and struggled with the physicality for the first 18 months or so.

We need leadership. In the past, that has sometimes been a scouser, but not always. And, Gerrard was a scouser but a poor leader in my opinion. Carra was the leader.

Our current leaders just aren't up to that task. That is why Toure has been so important this year. I think he was our most effective leader in the squad, but clearly not a long-term solution.

We need a Souness or a Hyppia or a Carra. I don't care where they come from or have loads of talent. They need to be good players and great leaders. We could use two.

They complement with the skillful (Coutinho, Firmino) and the hard working (Milner, Hendo).

No we don't. We need more good players in the team.

The reason Gerrard and carra were ever presents was because they were both very good

Seems odd that this even requires clarification.

The reason the likes of Gerrard, McManaman, Fowler, McMahon, Carragher, Callaghan, Thompson et al had such long, successful careers at Liverpool was because they were first and foremost all brilliant footballers.

But I do know that there is always something a bit more special when there is one or two (or three!) Scouse lads in the team. It helps add local identity and easily recognisable passion for what the club and the city means, even if our very best "foreigners" always quickly made that leap too; you can't really tell me that Xabi Alonso, Didi Hamann, Jan Molby, Sami Hyypia etc didn't understand what LFC meant

Exactly
Its less about scousers and more about good players ingraining themselves in to the club.
