I don't know why, but I've always liked Big Divock and no matter how many times his performances made me give up on him, every time there is an upturn in form I can't help but get excited once again. When he's in good form, he's almost an ideal back-up striker – big, fast, efficient and has a knack of scoring not just key, but legendary goals. And this season so far, he started dishing out assists as well – his knock-down for Minamino was nice and deliberate and the little chip for Salah was something none of us knew he had in his locker. His stats so far read 2 starts (63 and 90 mins), 1 goal and 2 assists. You can hardly ask for more.
The disinterested, going-through-the-motions Divock of last season is harldy worth £5M and I understand why teams are wary of investing serious money in him given that he's failed to settle in any team other than Klopp's Liverpool. But the rejuvenated goal-in-every-other-game Divock is probably more valuable to us than any replacement we could realistically sign for the money we would receive from his sale. It's a boom-bust cycle as eternal and endless as the changing of the seasons and I'm starting to think that Origi's fate is to remain in Liverpool forever.
