Both we wanted, both we missed out on.

Both have been very average at best at Spurs.

Anyone still wish we got them on board?

Too early to say I think. I haven't watched a lot of their games, but Dempsey's scored 3 and assisted on 3 goals in 13 league games so far. Maybe his general play hasn't been that good (I don't know, just guessing here going by your statement), but that's already 6 goals he's contributed to. Not too shabby considering that outside of Suarez, we haven't got anyone who can match that (closest: Gerrard: 1 + 3, Enrique and Sterling: 1 + 2). I'd say for the price they paid (not sure about wages), seems okay so far, going by the contribution.

No idea about Sigurdsson.

I think Dempsey would have been a good short term solution.
He's done alright for Spurs.

Sigurdsson has been very mediocre and has been far away from his Swansea form.
To early to tell as he's a young lad, but looks like he struggles with fitting in.

Although you would have to imagine he would have settled quicker under BR. He might have been a better fit with us than Spurs.

Dempsey hasn't been bad - he's not been as good as with Fulham for the reason I highlighted to Dirkus (There he had a license to do as he pleased and the team looked for him continually ... at Spurs, or with us, he'd have to not be the main cog). I honestly think however, he'd have been better for us as he'd have taken far more advantage of the space Suarez creates. Don't think 6 million on him is a 'bullet dodged' - he'd have helped us win more games.

As for Gylfi - he's made a mistake in his club choice. He barely plays, and hasn't done anything of note in the time he's had. I think he may yet do something at Spurs, but it's doubtful. They have better players in that position ...

A little pedantic here, but Sterling has got at least 4 assists in the league that I can think of off the top of my head.

My Spurs supporting mate seems happy with Dempsey. He hasn't mentioned the other fella and I don't know anything about him.

I think if I had to listen to that twat Boas' shite on the training pitch every week I'd struggle to settle in. The guy's a fucking spoon. As for Sigurrrdddssssonn, or whatever the fuck, fuck him for choosing Spurs over us.

We would have been better off with Dempsey. Whether he would have been better off is questionable but I think he would. For the money, and our situation, it would have been a good short term solution.

Sigurdsson - I really liked what I saw of him before his move to Spurs. However we ended up with Sahin so losing him to Spurs doesn't bother me any more.

Almost half way through the season and he hasn't shown a hint of this 'fucking quality' you bark of.

Yet spending £12m on Sturridge who hasn't shown any quality since the first half of last season is a no-brainer?

My spurs mate who's a season ticket holder says Sigurdsson isn't bad but Dempsey is dogshit....

Guess it's down to preference. I don't rate Dempsey, and I'd rather have Carroll/Borini, but when Suarez isn't playing any option is better than nothing so I'd have taken him.

Where are the people who were screaming that we should sign Dempsey because he's an 18 goal scorer in the league and on the cheap. Nearly half way through the season and he's got 3 coming up to the half way point.

I suppose nobody could have seen this decline coming as usual.

I can't remember too many people who wanted Dempsey.
If I remember correctly there was a fairly staunch resistance towards him singing.

Plenty did.

The ones who were complaining about how we fucked up by not signing him for most of September

3 goals in 12 and not played as a striker after missing pre season and the first few games of the season.
Talk about decline....

If he scores less than 18, that's a decline Hansern. Surely that doesn't need explaining?

So unless he has a historic second half, his performance will have declined

In your world it might be. Why even consider the position he plays or other factors.

Has Messi declined if he score 85 in 2013?

Should I throw a stupid question back at you in retort?

What difference does a preseason make? Do you not think he was training away himself anyway?
And he played the same position for Fulham.

Oh right, pre season. To get match fit? Training by yourself does wonders for that, ask any footballer.

He didnt, he played 5 games all season behind the striker. The rest was mostly on the left wing and 5 games as a striker.

Dont retort with a stupid question as your initial statement was stupid enough.

The number of games he plays makes a difference.

Even leaving aside the fact that Dempsey's having to play for the most overrated manager in world football, his 5 goals might well have brought us as many points, given the way so many of our games have turned out so far. Come the end of the season that might be the difference between CL and no CL. He's a good athlete with a winner's attitude, he can play wide or up front, and he wanted to come. Short-term measures can sometimes be necessary, and signing Dempsey would have been a good one to take.

28 of his games in the league last season was on the left or as a striker, both positions were we could have needed options so far this season.

I agree about short term though, but for 6 millish it could obvs be a good investment in terms of goals.
Our second top scorer is own goals...

Lets not judge Dempsey now. Ask again in 18 months time, when his legs might be like jelly and sitting there doing fuck all commanding 70k a week. That was our problem with the prices being thrown about.

Talking about this season is stupid.
