Anyone watching?

If so then here's my pick of Danish players for you to watch out for:

Christian Eriksen - AMC
Will hopefully be played in behind Bendtner and will be the pivotal figure in the Danes attack. Despite beeing only 18-yers-old he's already established himself in the Ajax starting XI. Apart from splendid vision and first touch he covers a lot of ground too. He's like the no. 10 of old only with stamina and pace. Needs to score more goals however. Very good from set-pieces, especially his corners would suit a player like Carroll.

Simon Kjær - CD
Has struggled in Wolfsburg - along the rest of the team - but has got some of the strengths we've been missing for some time now. Great in the air, strong in the challenge and a threat on set-pieces.

Mathias Zanka Jørgensen - CD
It'll be either him or Kjær alongside Agger. He's extremely agile and very athletic build. Tall and fast and better on the ball than Kjær but not quite as strong in the air. His showings in Champions League this Season has been very impressive and it seems he thrives when the competition is fierce.

Daniel Wass - RB
Very fast and very attacking-minded right-back who's apparently signed on a free with Benfica. Good shot from a distance and great determination, always putting in a great effort. Is not quite Liverpool-standard just yet but could be in a few years if he develops nicely in Portugal.

Ha, yeah... I get that.
But you're telling us to look at two CB's I thought Agger had withdrawn or something.

Both are interesting prospects but to be honest I don't know who'll start alongside Agger tonight.

Agger said last night he felt very good and was full of confidence and loved life in Liverpool. He'll start alright.

Liverpool will this summer look to follow up their purchase of Luis Suarez from Ajax by attempting to lure teenage playmaker Christian Eriksen to Anfield. The promising Danish international has impressed many with his mature performances for the Eredivisie club and many have tipped the youngster to be a big star in the future.

Director of Football Damien Comolli has earmarked a move for the starlet who has been likened to a young Dennis Bergkamp and the Merseyside club hope they can persuade the Amsterdam to sell as the Dutch side look to balance the books and help alleviate their financial woes.

Eriksen arrived at Ajax in 2008 and battled his way through the club’s academy system and into the first team far faster than anyone could possibly have imagined. The former Odense youth team player has already racked up almost 50 senior appearances and already has ten international caps to his name and yet he is still yet to turn 19.

Liverpool will hope that a bid for the £10m rated playmaker will be accepted as Frank De Boer may prefer to lose an up and coming star over the likes of more established names like Gregory van der Wiel, Maarten Stekelenburg and Jan Vertonghen, all strongly linked with moves away from the Amsterdam Arena.

Liverpool’s new owners are keen to see the club invest in young talent with good potential re-sale value and that can help build the nucleus of a new generation of Anfield stars and Eriksen arguably fits that bill to a tee.

Why are Danish players so much better than the Swedes?

We haven't had a decent central midfielder since Jonas Thern. Now we're playing a 34 year old Anders Svensson who's shit btw and you Danes keep producing midfielders like a Ford factory.

How do all smaller countries do it? And if you have an answer, please let me know so I can pass it on to the IFA

HA!

To be very honest i think Agger is stronger in the air than Kjaer.

I have followed Bundesliga a bit this season. Players who are commanding in terms of strength and ability to deal with aeriel threat (for me at least) are Naldo (He is a real monster), Subotic, Hummels and Mertesacker. I would say even players like Badstuber, Friedrich etc are better than Kjaer (in terms of heading/jumping/strength etc..). Kjaer has other qualities, but we don't need them at Liverpool.

If we are trying to find someone like Hyypia - Subotic would be my bet.

But if we are not willing to spend that kind of money Naldo/Hummels or Mertesacker should be our bet.

How does Diego Godin play at Athletico Madrid? May be we can use Suarez to lure him, if he is any good. He is highly rated though...

Well, it's always a bit up and down isn't it? You will produce great players again.

Ten years ago I wouldn't have thought of anyone to be good enough for Liverpool really - apart from Schmeichel perhaps but he was a Manc. Ever since Agger came through the ranks however it seems the major talents have started to pop up on a more regular basis once again. Almost like back in the early 80's with Lerby, Arnsen, Allan Simonsen, Jesper Olsen, Morten Olsen, Michael Laudrup, Preben Elkjær etc.

Kjær has always been a very powerful player in the air but you could be right with regards to him not beeing pwerful enough perhaps. I wouldn't say he's worse than Agger by any means though in that department.

Subotic is an interesting player but I'm almost more fond of his partner Hummels from what I've seen.

Well, Agger's extremely ordinary in the air. So if Kjaer's worse than him, he must be fucking terrible.

Though I've never seen him play apart from the World Cup (where he didn't really stand out as anything special).

Extremmely oridnary is harsh. Agger is decent in the air.

I have no interest whatsoever in any international being played this week, other than the survival from injury of our players. Internationals generally bring us nothing but bad news.

You think? He's never struck me as anything more than an average header of the ball. He's never been physical enough to consistenly win aerial duels at the back and he's also pretty useless on attacking setpieces. I don't recall him ever scoring a headed goal for us and he's someone who pretty much always goes forward for corners and free-kicks.

It's a pity because if were good in the air, he'd be an absolute monster of a player.

Agger can most certainly improve in the air. He did cope rather well against Drogba at Chelsea mind and will continue to do so can he just stay fit.

Scored against Arsenal once with a header if I'm not mistaken, but other than that, you're right he's not been a real threat on set-pieces for a long time.
