Demba Ba

The last thread degenerated into a Tony Evans slag fest so I thought I'd try again.

£7.5m transfer and a shitload of wages (£4.5M/year) for Demba Ba seems quite a good deal as an overall package compared to what the market rate is for proven goal-every-other-game strikers in the premier league.

I'd take him as well as Sturridge if he was willing to come.

Plus 2.5 million of that fee goes to Ba himself so fuck Newcastle and sign him, just for the Carroll deal the geordie cunts.

He's currently being credited with yet another goal vs Arse. His free kick was deflected massively so it may not stay his.

He's also had two headers just over from corners.

Great finish for 3-3 - 13 for the season now, equal first with Michu, one more than van Persie

For £7.5m, we should sign him. He is a proven goalscorer, able to score all types of goal.

Of course, I'd rather get someone like Llorente, Negredo or Cavani but that is not going to happen.

Yes - proven premier league goalscorer. Would be great to see him in a red shirt - but I doubt we'll be getting a second - unless we could turn it into an exchange deal with Carroll.

Ba shits goals. I don't know enough about his injury concerns, but if it could be confirmed that he's not a ticking time bomb, I think £7.5m would be an absolute steal. Which is probably why we'll steer well clear of him.

Sky commentary team just said he's on his way to Chelsea to replace Sturridge

Huge difference in wage demands and Chelsea can afford to have a player with no insurance, we can't.

Apperantly after 85-90k a week.
His contract is quite complex and there is an issue with insurance.
Chelsea can afford it all.

Hopefully Newcastle will go for Carroll

Can we sell Carroll if he's out on loan with an agreed deal to sell?

Would be nice if we can get a decent wedge of cash and more than the 18 we agreed with West Ham

If Ba had come that would be Suarez out wide.

Wonder how him and Torres will work together.
From what i saw today torres will be on the bench. Rafa isn't really into playing two out and out strikers. it will be one or the other and on current form Ba is easily better.

Since when does Rafa ever bench Torres on a consistant basis?

At liverpool torres had no competition, it was just kuyt so torres was always going to play. Plus torres was undropable during the rafa reign as he was scoring goals for fun. But rafa himself said that torres isn't at the same level he was at liverpool. I can see him dropping him quite easily actually.

He's played every game for Rafa since he went to Chelsea right? While he was dropped by Di Matteo before he got the boot. I think the Russian Billionaire wants him in the side.

He would have been a great signing, but I hope people don't rewrite history and say he's one we missed out on because of our own fuck ups, etc. He's gone to Chelsea who are in a much better position and have a much better attacking squad.

As well as a fat wallet.

An update on Demba Ba's future and Sky Sports sources have learned that the striker's representatives held unproductive talks with Chelsea on Sunday evening and he is unlikely to move to Stamford Bridge. The Newcastle United player's representatives will now begin talks with other clubs, with Arsenal and Liverpool among the teams linked with a swoop for Ba.
