I guess we should have a new thread as he seems to be a target of ours in Jan:

Something Sturrs: Liverpool and Chelsea are in talks over Daniel Sturridge switch

19 Nov 2012 22:32

Striker-starved Brendan Rodgers wants all his ducks in a row so the England international can move to Anfield in the first week of January

New Year's resolution: Sturridge could become a Liverpool player just days into 2013
Liverpool have opened negotiations with Chelsea over a possible switch for Daniel Sturridge.

The Reds' co-owners John Henry and Tom Werner are ready to back manager Brendan Rodgers in the January transfer window, and have already made overtures to the top brass at Stamford Bridge.
They have registered an interest in the £15million-rated England striker, and hope to move swiftly when the winter window opens at the turn of the year.

Rodgers will push hard to conclude any talks swiftly enough for him to get his man in the first week of January, as he wants to avoid a repeat of the problems endured in the summer.

The Liverpool boss was left in the lurch at the end of August when he allowed Andy Carroll to leave for West Ham on a season-long loan but was then denied the money to buy Fulham's Clint Dempsey, who was sold to Spurs instead, as a replacement.

Rodgers has since made clear he wants to bring in two or three players in January, with a striker his biggest priority.

Sturridge tops his list, after failing to agree a loan deal to Anfield in the summer.

Chelsea want to sell because the young forward's contract is ticking down and he would be able to engineer a move on a free transfer this time next year.

They are also looking to raise funds to help finance a widely anticipated January move for Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao.

Sturridge wants to leave the Bridge after being pushed down the pecking order by Fernando Torres - he has refused any talks over a new deal in his determination to go.

15 million is high but look how much fletcher cost Sunderland and he was in the championship.
How many people would take nando back if I'm honest I'm not sure!

I'd say Paris will be Torres next home.

Or Italy.

These days Milan have a habit of buying unwanted strikers (and usually doing quite well out of it).

Plus I remember Torres saying he wanted to play in Italy once.

I'm sure Nando can't wait to leave these shores and start somewhere new. If I were him, I would even surprise the hell out of everyone and move to South America for a few months. No better place to rediscover your passion for the game and scoring touch than Brazil or Argentina.

Sturridge I just don't can't figure out. He's never going to be a ruthless goalscorer, which is surely the number one priority. He's got plenty of talent and potential but he surely can't be envisaged at this stage as the answer to the goal scoring problems.

When given a consistent run macca he's shown he can be quite prolific. At Bolton and early last year for chelsea he scored a handful

Yes, point taken. His positioning is always quite unconventional and for that reason very intriguing.

A selfish striker paired up with a extremely selfish striker.
That there is a recipe for success.

He flourished while AVB was at chelsea, but Di Matteo dropped him for drogba. The guy can definitely score goals and has pace which is always good. Plus he would suit our system well in that he can play as a wide forward, but if suarez was suspended can play through the middle like he did while on loan at Bolton. £15m is a bit steep, but lets be honest we're desperate, and like and earlier poster said fletcher cost £15m from the championship.

Sturridge is the kinda player you take a cheap flyer on, 5m or so, and hope for the best.

He's not worth 15m or anywhere near it
