This 17 year old Tranmere kid we've been linked with is playing on SKY Sports 1 in a few minutes in the Oldham v Tranmere game.Ex-Liverpool kid John Welsh playing alongside him in midfield.

So was he any good?

Dunno, it was 0-0 though.

Actually he was shockingly bad. I think he was trying too hard to impress and nothing worked for him. You can see he has ability and he went on one short mazy run that took him past 2 defenders and he got a good shot away that the keeper saved but apart from that he looked very rusty. He's been out injured for a couple of months so that didn't help and unfortunately he pulled his hamstring with 15 minutes to go and he had to go off.

He's only just turned 18 and no doubt he'll develop a lot over the next 12 months because he definitely has ability.

John Welsh had an excellent game for Tranmere, he's found his level and he looks a very good player in that division.

Overall it was a poor game between 2 teams who were too afraid to lose.

he could be a great back up if we don't get hazard or sanchez.

Actually the lad I'd love us to sign as back up i.e. a squad addition who could be a real asset is Craig Mikael-Smith of Peterbro. He's just been called up by Scotland, he's very quick, guarantees 20+ goals a season (admittedly in the lower leagues) and I reckon he's good enough for the EPL. I don't know why nobody has taken a chance on him in the higher leagues although Norwich had a bid turned down last month and were quoted £2m.

The youtube highlights reminded me a young Michael Owen.

Jennings

I cannot see him coming back to us after this though.

Tranmere youth coach Shaun Garnett says Rovers forward Dale Jennings is the perfect example of a player who has not given up on playing top level football.

Jennings won the League One Apprentice of the Year award after being released by Liverpool as a schoolboy.

"He's worked hard at his game, his lifestyle and he deserves the award," Garnett told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"Dale has dealt with the rejection in the past in a positive way and he's come back a better player."

He added: "Dale has a great story for any boy who suffers rejection. We picked Dale up when he was 15, having been released from Liverpool and having down the rounds at other clubs.

"He came to us on trial and right away he was as good as we had and you could see the potential from the start."

We should fuck N'gog off and replace him with someone like Jennings.

Why were Ince and Fowler at the game?
[/quote]

Ince is manager of Notts County and Fowler is a coach at MK Dons and both teams are playing against Tranmere & Oldham respectively before the end of the season - so, research.

TRANMERE are considering an approach from German giants Bayern Munich to take teenage prospect Dale Jennings on a short trial, with a view to a permanent signing this summer.

I understand Prenton Park officials have confirmed Bayern’s interest in the 18-year-old and are discussing the issue.

Rovers turned down a £600,000 bid for Jennings from a Premier League club in January and the youngster still has another year of his current contract to run.

Jennings was voted League One Apprentice of the Year at the Football League awards in March after making a spectacular breakthrough into Tranmere’s first team early this season.

Several Premier League and Championship clubs have also shown strong interest in the Liverpool born youngster, who made 32 first team appearances this season, scoring six goals.

Bayern, last year’s Champions League finalists are scouring Europe for the best young talent and recognise Jennings’ potential.

Manager Les Parry knows he will be working under tight financial conditions again next season.

Parry has been told that the budget for players and staff at Prenton Park will be the same for the 2011/12 campaign as for the one that finished last weekend.

That will leave Rovers among the clubs with the most modest spending resources in League One – although Parry expects a number of rivals to be cutting back on expenditure next term.

Rovers punched above their financial weight in finishing nine points clear of the relegation places in 2010/11, an achievement which helped to persuade chairman Peter Johnson to give the long serving physio-turned-manager a third campaign in charge of team affairs.

West Ham have made a late bid to snatch Tranmere Rovers’ Dale Jennings from the clutches of Bayern Munich.

Manager Sam Allardyce has signalled the offer after negotiations stalled between the Bundesliga side and the League One team over prospective add-ons.

The 18-year-old former Liverpool trainee was all set for to fly out to Munich this weekend once the finer details were ironed out but West Ham have moved to trump the Germans with a £1.8million bid and will pay more cash up front.

The move has swayed cash-strapped Tranmere and they are now leaning towards accepting the Championship favourites’ package.

They rejected a £600,000 offer for Jennings in January but realise it is a signing that can bring them a decent return.

Jennings has only made 29 league appearances but is seen as one of the best young talents outside the Premier League.

The deal - which is worth in the region of £1.7million - is expected to be completed this weekend and will mark the start of a major learning curve for the player who was released by Liverpool as a 15-year-old.

Former Bayern and Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann says Jennings can only benefit from his move to the Allianz Arena.

Hamann, who has recently become the manager at Blue Square Bet Premier side Stockport County, has first-hand experience of Jennings' fledgling talents.

Hamann - playing for MK Dons - was on the receiving end when the whizzkid scored twice in Tranmere's 4-2 League One victory last October.

Bayern's sporting director Christian Nerlinger even contacted Hamann for his opinion on Jennings before the German giants made their surprise move.

The former Germany midfielder - who won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005 - gave Jennings a glowing reference.

And Hamann said yesterday: 'He's a very talented player and they saw that and have taken a punt on him.

'I wish him all the best and hope it works out. I think it's a great move for him and it can only improve him as a player and a person.

'It's a new country and new language and will be a whole new experience for him.'
