Alright chaps.
Have you heard about this scheme to get people off their fat arses and out onto the roads to be mown down by crazed motorists?

Basically our government will offer tax breaks to anyone purchasing a bike (and all the trappings) in order that you can make savings to afford said bike. The deal for them being that they can go to the European court of whatever the fuck whatever and say look, we got our emmisions down by getting all the fatties out of thier 4 x 4's and into some ill fitting Lycra.

I first heard of this scheme last year but wasnt really that into the idea, but i have now decided its something i would like to do.

So basically you buy a ticket off Halfords for a certain value then you pay back a lesser value as all the taxes usually levied on the equipment is removed.
EG Borrow £700 then over 18 months pay back (@24.50pm) £450.00. At the end of the 18 months the bike is officially owned by Halfords (or your company if they invest in the scheme) but they are obliged to sell it to you for between 3 and 5% of the total spend. So effectively along with the final payment you would give them a further 20 quid or something to remove the bike from what is essentially a hire purchase agreement and become the owner.

If you are interested ask your employers if they are willing to subscribe to this scheme, if not i think you can do the whole thing independantly but i am not sure 100% how that works.

I found out that the company i work for is doing it and am going to sign up for a £500 ticket of which i must pay back £315 over the next 18 months @£17.50pm for which i intend to buy (having done a bit of research.
Bike (road) £299
Helmet £35
Lights £35
Outfit £60
Computer £25
Bottle and holder £9
Repair kit £7
and some other bits and bobs.
This is a great scheme, that will benefit you and more importantly the planet. If you think its for you look into it, i reckon its great and will be looking forward to getting my bike sorted out very soon.
