How do they do it.. ?

£28 mil for Lukaku.. 28 mil.. for a player they never played and no manager they have had has rated..

£50 mil for sideshow bob... for a one trick pony specialist.. that was beyond laughable..

both no where near worth that amount..

Lukaku could go on to repay that fee, that Luiz fee was ridiculous, though. I'm convinced that was some sort of way of getting around FFP regulations.

They cant start the season with just Costa surely.
I reckon they will sell Torres for about 15m then go for Falcao.

I can't see them spending big money on another striker. Mourinho likes to play with one main striker and someone like Falcao or Cavani wouldn't come to sit on the bench.

They've brought Drogba back (though probably more for the dressing room) and also have Schurrle who can score goals.
 
He moaned all last year that he had no strikers when he had Torres, Ba, Shurlle and Etoo
 
On a plus side they have Loaned Ryan Bertrand to Southampton.. (off the Radar!!)

That's what Chelsea paid a few years back though. Since then prices have gone a bit nutty across the board and Lukaku has gone from a promising 17 year old from Belgium to a player that has proven he can score goals in this league.

I can't imagine Chelsea being very receptive to the argument that Lukaku, a striker, is worth a mere 2M more than Calum Chambers, for example.

Unless his injuries have knackered him (he really did look awful in the last couple months of the campaign last season), I'd expect him to have no problems in this league. I'd love for him to get the Suarez treatment from the FA / media / refs though.

80mill on those pair, shocking. Lukaku has never really impressed me, he looks ok, but under successive chelski managers he's been palmed off, you'd think that mourinho isn't stupid. They've got rid of two average players that are no better really than agger+borini, and got 80mill for them. Fair play.
Blueslime putting all their eggs in the Lukaku basket, they'll be after some loans again now.

Chelsea have made good money from bulk buying from Europes youngsters in the last 3-4 years but don't think it's a maintainable strategy. They aren't Porto and don't see many potential names in that squad that they could do the same wiht next year sale wise. Glad Lukaku has gone to an Everton, kepes the league competitive.
