Article dated 20+ hours ago. Basically claiming an initial bid has been submitted, much to Redknapp's surprise. Article also claimed Kranjcar felt like 'dead man walking' and is in limbo, firstly due to the fact that he can only make his next move in Jan and secondly cos the only concrete interest till date, before Liverpool's offer, was from Newcastle.

Article suggested that Redknapp is reluctant to sell and wanted to "pull the brake". He would rather have a player on 55k per wk sitting on the bench than strengthening a rival competitor.

Another slow fiddly wide player, who isn't really a winger, isn't really a midfielder either, and doesn't score very many goals.

Exactly what we need.

Kranjcar is a gun, and played well for tottenham last season. what are you on about

i like Kranjcar.. but he is very similar to Cole, Maxi, Pacheco.

Under Rafa there were times when we completely dominated teams having near 70% of the ball. This is the time you need a really clever midfielder to open things up. Kranjcar will help us keep hold of the ball.. But we need pace, having Babel or someone similar capable of destroying defenders on the break would give us more options.

Id like him as a signing.. but id be a lot happier getting someone a bit more feisty and athletic.

So they get VDV for 8M and we give them 8.5M for Kranjcar.

BRILLIANT.

Kranjcar, so I'd heard anyway. Probably bollocks!

I hope the word has it right then.

He's ok, nothing brilliant, I remember a few people moaning that we should have been in for him last time.

We were linked when he went to Spurs but he was one of Harry's Inland Revenue specials from Pompey. I think he's good, he's better than what we have, and more importantly if he goes to Everton, their midfield is fucking miles ahead of ours.

Cheers Rafa.

Rafa's midfield included Stevie G., Xabi Alonso and Mascherano.

He spent last season on the pitch, doing well. Apart from that, spot on as per usual.
[/quote]He's played 28 times in the last 14 months. Alberto Aquilani has played 25 times in the same period. Daniel Agger 29.
Im not denying hes a good player and when he sold for 1m we should rightly have been in for him, 14 injury plagued months later hes 7m? naaah!

He went on the cheap because of his contract and Pompey's situation and cos Redknapp is a corrupt twat, I agree though, we shouldn't be spending £7m on someone like him.

I was one of them when he was leaving Portsmouth for £4M, which would have been a steal.

Not for £8.5 though.

There's nothing to question when a newspaper publishes transfer gossip.

OUr transfer policy is going to be interesting though.

From the comments made by Henry, NESV would probably take a different approach.

But whose advice will they be relying on?

Have NESV said anything more than we need to get value for money?

That doesn't really tell us a whole lot. Every management team would want to see quality brought in for a price that represents good value, so it's not a particularly novel idea.

No, that's true...but it's not really something we've done well at for a number of years.

They may want to change things, question is how?
