I was doing some work related research into how things are a little different from 20-25 years ago. That in itself sounds stupid but bear with me. I mean in what a nipper (say 6-11 years old) could do back then. So I grew up in a little Bucks town and basically was given free roam. I lived on a housing estate but nothing dodgy. Just your usual 80s style tarmac roads with semi detached housing and a liberal smattering of multi coloured garages (with matching coloured doors)
I was allowed out from as young as I can remember to 'as soon it got dark' - In summer I would regularly be out and about until 9pm. To be fair our house backed onto a field where lots of kids did the same. Playing footy/cricket etc.
Thinking now as a parent I'm a little astonished I was given such free reign (something I may take up with my mum at some point) Still I wonder If anyone has similar stories and are willing to share? Pure research only of course. 🙂
