Someone please post the pic of him squaring up against NZonzi, who remarkably didn't get sent off for raising his hand against Lucas, Protector of Little Brazilians.

Nzonzi's a good talent to be fair but he comes across as a bellend on the pitch. Always mouthing off and acting the big lad.

Should have been given a 2nd yellow for pushing Lucas in the face.

I had a few thoughts about this.
One I LOVED that Lucas was quick as fuck to bowl in (that shit means a lot to me)
Two Agger was on the run to get in there, i love that about Agger, he will protect his players.

Heres the thing about Coutinho that I think y'all wont agree with.
I think he believed the hype in himself in that game. I thought he thought too much and came across as 'Im coutinho' more than 'I can play football'
I was disappointed in him and sturridge today.
I thought Henderson, Lucas and Gerrard were great. I thought Aspas played naturally but I thought Coutinho and Sturridge tried too hard and played on their reputation not their gifts.

I wouldn't throw the G word around with that 3 man midfield, not after that game anyway. Gerrard and Lucas had moments, and moments of daftness too, but Henderson had a completely meh game IMO.

That's an interesting observation, Oncy. In truth I didn't notice anything like that during this game, but I agree that that stuff like this CAN happen when a young player becomes too indispensable.

You probably won't see any hint of this attitude in either Coutinho or Sturridge once Suarez comes back; they'll be too busy trying to match his level to have any danger of thinking too highly of themselves.

I'm not quite sure about Sturridge to that regard, but I absolutely noticed Coutinho overdribbling/shooting in a few spots. He has earned the right to do so with his play last season, but I'm hoping that he reins it in a bit, especially if we add another top attacking threat to the first team.

I'm glad coutinho acted that way (he's going to be a target for opposing defenses more and more and it's good that he won't taket hat shit), glad that Lucas acted that way (you protect your best players) and Agger just being Agger ... Rock on.

I thought Coutinho played a couple of fantastic passes early on, especially one from which Henderson should probably have scored. I was a little disappointed second half - he was not as effective. I was wondering whether he would be subbed - Rodgers used to sub him regularly last season. I definitely thought Sturridge should have been subbed, having come back from injury with little pre-season. I thought it would have been wiser to pull him after 75. The comment about hype is interesting - maybe it has some truth, though I'd hope not and I think it's a little early to suggest.

Interesting observation by Onceared. But I thought rather than believing in his own hype, the reason for him 'overplaying' is because of the Gerrard syndrome -- the need and pressure to grab the game by the scruff of its neck and drag his team through. Probably the occasion, the first game of the season at home, got to him a little.

I think once Sturridge gets match fitter, Suarez returns to the first team picture, and Willian comes in to share playmaking/starmaking duties, once he sees that there are other equally brilliant teammates he can count on, we'll see Coutinho at his uninhibited best again.

I think this is the first time I've ever seen Coutinho get angry. N'zonzi looked a bit dumbfounded that Coutinho would confront someone a head taller than him.

He did kinda look like he had his fist raised and then went "shit, this cunt is actually MASSIVE"

Missed all of it.... every match in fact... it seems Thai TV which I was stealing at the border has lost its rights maybe... BALLLS.... no problem... DELIGHTED we best them cunts...exactly the sort of cunts we struggle to beat so....

LOOK at his lttle face!!! LOVE HIM!! GWAN Coutinho La.... GWAN!!

Ha ha ... I saw that too ... and that's why Wonderman came in (notice, he didn't even have his cape on!)

I thought there was a touch of the same about Lucas' intervention TBH. Initially he comes steaming in to separate them, then the word "Oops" seems to appear above his head in a thought bubble.

I mentioned it the other day during the England game.
One of those massive Scottish CB's (cant remember the name) starting shoving Walcott again and again, he was about twice his size, and NOT ONE England player jumped in to back Walcott.
It made me think of Agger and how he is usually first there giving it back tenfold. I love him for that, and I love Lucas for it yesterday. Thats what teammates should do.

Oh and Nzonzi scratches like a girl.

remember that, it was bizarre, walcott was being pushed repeatedly, I think it was Rooney who belatedly came in the end. Great stuff by Lucas and Agger.

Yeah Rooney finally got involved but only in that 'Come on mate' way but not with aggression or retribution.
If that was coutinho being shoved Agger and Gerrard would have been straight in there.
I couldnt believe what i was seeing.
