Corners

We just launch every corner inswinging to the near post. We're predictable and it gets defended easily.

As soon as we vary it, we score (short corner leads to Cody's) goal.

As a coach whos renowned for changing things that arent working, i hope arne brings more variation to our corners. Historically i always feel weve been shite, but in Klopps era we were brilliant. Lets get back to that please...

Or maybe we need a set peice coach?

I’d like to see Slobby in the box for corners. I do get why he’s in the edge because of his recovery pace but it feels like we could get another big lad in there.

Yeah we are very disappointing from corners, especially given the height of Virgil, Konate, Nunez, Gakpo, Gravy. Maybe it just hasn't been a priority for Slot so far, but we get a lot of them and we could do with making these more of a threat.

However I also think there is a benefit in getting it right in the sweet spot versus continually trying variations - which can be just as annoying if you get caught offside trying short corners etc.

Without Trent and Tsimikas our delivery isnt as good. Robbo and Macca didnt have the same quality against Real.
We should definitely score more from set pieces.

What's annoying is that Szobs takes some absolute great corners for Hungary then his ones for us are absolute pish

We need our own Iggy Pop set piece coach to stride up and down the line like a gladiator. Add in some dramatically sinister music. Is Aspas available for the gig?

We have a lot of guys with height advantages but it's no good if you don't know how to use it in the opposition box, I'd say we only really have Virg who looks to aggressively attack set pieces and he's the target man for our corners. Konate could do a little more as he fits that profile but Szobo, Grav, Gakpo even Jones whilst all 6ft+ don't strike me as those type.

Nice to see Arne and the boot room boys are lurkers.

Corners mixed up today and far more dangerous. VVD really should have scored. Maccas outswingers far more effective
Not sure why Trent was on the in-swingers? Does not make any sense.

Nothing wrong with them today, just VVD off target with all three. Should have scored at one at least.
its quite galling that he had consistent efforts and struggled each time. He is a behemoth; he should be hitting the target

The second one was the one. Free header, good height, open goal, no pressure. My FF team was not impressed.

The header against the post he was really unlucky with and not sure he could've done too much more with that, was that even from a (short) corner or normal open play?

Header that went just wide was the biggest chance.

We still need the others to learn how to be aggressive and attack set plays like Virg does.

Loving that Dom and Mac A are now getting increased corner taking responsibilities. This can only benefit us as a team.
